I was born and raised in San Diego. Now I find myself living among so-called “fellow citizens” and yahoo patriots, whose motivations are repellent. I hate the rampant disrespect for people of different heritage, worship of youth, conspicuous consumption, fashion addiction, and generalized philosophy of manifest destiny that expressed in almost every aspect of life in this part of the world. Bigger cars, waistlines, houses, salaries, TV screens, families, wardrobes, egos, and on and on. It’s a land of conservatism where the only thing being conserved are political, cultural and philosophical museum relics.
