Why must I write about wanting to write when I could be writing right now? Hrmph.

Julia Ashley something else
is coming to life.
it’s been hard trying to write again but it’s finally coming out.
teachmetolove is getting it done!
Not only am I confident I will, at some point, accomplish this goal, I’m confident that it will be a great book. Honestly, a really great book. You will read it. Oprah will read it. Everyone with a set of eyes and the gift of literacy will read it, or at least want to. There will be a big, wooden display table right inside the doors of Barnes & Noble devoted to me and the books (I’ll be pressured into writing several books, I’m sure, after my debut kills the bestseller list). Just wait, I’ll make millions. Even if I don’t, it’ll be a great book regardless, but then I’ll have to find a different outlet to pay off my college debt. Woof.

Both Chris and Martin are really supportive and pushy about me finishing this goal. I’m really somewhat mad at myself that I haven’t yet – I could have finished in October if I’d just kept at it regularly.
I wonder if I could finish by the end of the month if I really work at it? Chris promised me a present (hopefully himself) if I did.

I’m in the process of completing the second draft! The first draft was absolutely awful and will never see another pair of human eyes, but the second, well, I’m rather pleased with it to say the least. :)
So far I’ve only had two other people read it but they love it as well. I’m not sure that I’ll be able to finish by Halloween – since I still have 2/3 of the 2nd draft to write as well as the final revision draft… but we’ll see. If I could even finish it by the end of next weekend – what an accomplishment!
Then for the month of NaNoWriMo I’ll begin work on the second (well, technically the third) novel. I’m on a roll!!!

I’ve sent the first 6 chapters of the 2nd draft to people to read over. I’m going to send 6 more at the end of the week and then the rest next week. Then I can start working on the 3rd Draft. I’m sending the fourth off Nov. 3 (but it will be finished by Halloween)!
That way I can work on NaNoWriMo in November, along with another idea I’ve been developing that really has me excited. So much writing to do and so little time.
It makes me so happy though. :)

and the consequence of not finishing is to be unable to watch SATC for however long it does take me, hopefully i’ll be able to get it done.
halloween. that’s the new deadline. right now i have fourteen chapters to go in the rough draft. eep! i’m working from a broken laptop and in a week i’ll have no internet. however, i’ll also have no job in a week so i guess i’ll have plenty of time, oy.
“work through it!” i keep telling myself.

plugging away.
every day i finish one chapter in rough form. with this draft i have two goals: 1) get between 3000 and 4000 words and 2) get the story down without letting the perfectionist side of me go back to “correct.”
i have a prologue and the first four chapters written, today i’m working on chapter 5. (i’m thinking it will end up somewhere around 20).
i feel really good that i’ve done this every day and haven’t allowed myself to edit it at all, or even read what i’ve written.
when this rough draft is done i’ll update again :)

went to the MWC now the HWC and met with some amazing authors, editors and agents. i even met the “father of rambo!” one of the agents was very excited about my story idea and gave me her card to send it to her.
now: to finish writing it.
also: i reccommend reading creating character emotions by ann hood as well as the successful novelist by david morrell. both were very inspiring (as was the conference itself).
i WILL do this. i think right now this is probably my number one most important goal (though with all the other things i have going on right now, one that will require some hardcore dedication and determination).

well, i’ve got some good ideas and i’m going to the maui writers conference this month to meet some other authors, editors and agents. fingers crossed
