I have swum with dolphins..so next on the list is sharks.
I want to do this next time I go to Sea World, and I think i’ll be doing it alone, though Hubby NEEDS to be there to see it and get photos :)
How I did it: The reason why it took, I'd say ~3 days is because I basically came up with the idea a few days before that day and we set it up. Totally a "hey, let's do this" kinda thing...It was so awesome!!!I reached out and grabbed the fin of one of the sharks swimming by. Stupid, but worth it and I didn't get bitten.. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I was in the Galapagos Islands and we were snorkeling. Somehow I missed our leader telling us how there were sharks in the waters and how they were herbivores, so they wouldn't be after us. The waves were rough and I was knocked into rough rocks, so my leg was bleeding and then our leader told us to be quiet because of the sharks. I freaked out. We made it through, but then had to go back through. I was all p… Read how I did it…

DillmanSK thinking; do you realize how much you learn without know?
I’ve seen so many movies with people swimming with sharks, and well…this is something that I’ve wanted to do since I’ve seen other people swimming with them.
My family was snorkeling at Bathtub Reef in Florida. We had heard that nurse sharks, which are harmless, are common in the area. So when we saw sharks while swimming we thought nothing of it. We saw probably 3 or 4 sharks that were about 5-6 feet in length. We were swimming after them to get a closer look. The next day we were at a dive shop when we saw a newspaper about a school of bull sharks that had been in the area. We had been swimming with bull sharks, one of the three most dangerous shark species and the #1 shark for bites in Florida! The owner of the dive shop, when we told him about chasing after the sharks and our general ignorance, said “That’s why all the tourists get eaten” and laughed. We like to tell the story now and feel like badasses.
crutecial is working
well, i am planning my trip to south africa to dive off the coast of cape town! i am looking at july of 2009, but will have to wait and see if i will be able to afford it. started a second job last night so i can hopefully pay for it. if not, it will be july of 2010. either way, it’s going to be amazing! my sister is going to go with me, and we are going to check out some other areas of africa as well, since it’s about 23 hours of traveling to get down there!
arturian is in a really good place in life!!!
Did it in DR on vocation. Sharks didn’t have teeth (they remove them). They had a section blocked off in the middle of the ocean about 1 mile from shore. They had sharks and stingrays. It was pretty cool but sharks kept avoiding contact
Sharks terrify me, yet I am completely and totally obsessed with their great strength and strange beauty. One day, I would like to complete this task so that I may gain a better understanding of this amazing creature and, ?maybe?, conquer my fears.
Did it in 2001 in Bora Bora. I was with a group that watched the sharks get fed a lot of chum, and then if you wanted you could snorkel in and amongst them. It was great!
