A Life On Bare Soles 10 months ago

I ‘m used to a life on bare soles: I haven’t worn shoes since December 2000 when I moved to India (I’m originally from Germany), and I don’t think I’ll EVER imprison my feet again!
Walking barefoot is AMAZING!!! If you’re barefoot you’re able to FEEL the ground! Would you wear gloves all-year-round? Nopes! So: Why shoes? Being in touch with Mother Earth, letting the energy flow freely isn’t that bad, after all… Right?
Plus: It’s very refreshing and stimulating (ever heard about the reflex zones in our feet?)! Join me for a rather longish hike, preferably in the mountains, and let’s see who gets tired first! Walking barefoot is stimulating: In every sense!
There’s more: The ecological impact is far less dramatic (erosion!) if you’re hiking in a natural environment (ever thought about what your heavy hiking boots do to the ecosystem?). It’s also communicative to a degree you wouldn’t expect: Travelling a lot I’ve made more than one friend explaining WHY I’m roaming around barefoot!
Somehow you’re more defensive, less aggressive if barefoot… There are many aspects, but what really counts is the sensual factor: The “barefoot feeling”! It’s not only about feeling the ground beneath our soles, every change in texture or temperature, the difference between lawn and concrete, tar and marble, but also about feeling free – in many ways! If you don’t know what I mean: Leave your shoes at home and experience the freedom, the freshness, the air touching every inch of your feet… Try it once and you’ll never want to wear those “little prisons” again!
If you’re living barefoot, your soles will get tough and calloused and they’ll be dirty most of the time, but that’s nothing to worry about: My tough soles enable me to walk on hot tarmac, sharp gravel and even snow without any discomfort! It’s amazing how fast our feet adjust…
Even if my feet are dusty, calloused and dirty: Bare is beautiful! I use loads of foot-jewelery to decorate my evenly tanned feet: Toe rings, anklets, barefoot sandals, little bells and the occassional slogan!
Bare is Best!
If you feel the same, please mail me at barefoot_jens@yahoo.com! I would love to chat about our experiences…

BAREFOOT!

A fly against the wind. 17 months ago

“Where are your shoes?!” One by one, my fellow students at my high school question. Keyword: ONE BY ONE. So I get tired and skip the lengthy explanations and reply: “In my backpack/at home.” The question “Why?” is answered by my public speaking project- one revolving around how shoes ruin our feet and how we walk. By taking up this goal of going bare feet as often as I can, I understand that I am going to go against the very object that I have been conditioned to breathe by ever since birth, an ex-loved object of if-it-were-not-so-dirty-I-would-kiss-it-status, what may be here to stay in our society, shoes. I know that I will adapt to a world and society that has optimized itself for the shod and in the process of hardship, I will adapt to myself. I currently stand by this bottom line: “Shoes are tools and will be used only if needed.” Wish me luck, out.

I took my shoes off in Disneyland. :P Running around in my rainbow colored socks was cool. :P I’m barefoot now. I’ve always preferred barefoot over slippers, flipflops, shoes and other footware. My mother and aunts are always telling me to wear something on my feet. :P
Going outside barefoot isn’t really going to work, here in Holland/Amsterdam, you find broken glass peaces everywhere (oftentimes even on or near childrens playgrounds!) and people look at you like you’re looking for attention or something. Like you’re weird.

I have started to go barefoot since the beginning of this year. I love it. I go barefoot in public places even at church. I don’t wear shoes as much. This is my lifestyle choice.

Cold! 18 months ago

So I smoke, but I’m not allowed to in the house. I figured I’d go barefoot when I’m outside having a fag, it’s a start.

It’s all wet and rainy, good ole UK weather. Damn I never realised how much shoes insulate you from the cold ground! My feet are like ice blocks now, ha

I go barefoot whenever I can. I especially love to hike barefoot. I feel more agile and light-footed. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of dirt or grass beneath my feet. It’s wonderful. I’m reluctant to go barefoot in public, though, because it’s still frowned upon in many places. I plan to get over that soon.

When the weather is good I take my shoes and socks off and I go barefoot. Everywhere, street, shops, train..It is a great feeling of freedom. Everybody must do this.

Seriously... 22 months ago

There is nothing more amazing than spending an entire day without shoes! I like this goal…this is gonna be a fun one!
