How I did it: I found a number of places on the web and displayed the candidates to my brother. He picked the one he liked best, and I made all the arrangements. I didn't plan anything else, leaving it up to his creative friends to figure out other activities.
We didn't bother with strippers. But we drank steadily all weekend. I brought my drums, guitars, and a PA, and had it all set up before anyone showed up. We then filled the weekend with music, and other activities (poker, a shuffle board table, some wiffle ball, a hike, and a little spectator fishing). No one was bored, everyone had fun. Out of 13 - 14 people, many beers were consumed, but nobody got beligerant, and nothing was broken! In my book, that's a rousing success! Read how I did it… 3 years ago

Well, the basic plan is in place. I’ve got the house locked in, and date picked, people informed. I just have to start sending the money, and planning the fine details. Not sure about strippers yet. I’m not so sure that’s essential. However, I’ve heard that if there are no strippers at the Bachelor Party, then it wouldn’t be a real marriage! The preasure’s on….
This goal won’t be complete until I can ascertain the 3rd word happens, the “great” part. That won’t be until after the party, the first week in June.

5 months after my first entry, and not really close to feeling good about this.
After being frustrated with my web searches and confusions, I decided I needed a list of people attending and a solid date. I asked my bother to send this to me in an e-mail. Months went by, and no response.
He sent a note a few days ago, and said his head count was 30 people. Did he send me a list of these people? Of course not! He sent me a list of possible weekends, and the e-mails of the other groomsmen so I can get with them and nail down a date.
After removing the weekends I was unable to do, I sent a note to the others. If they are like my brother, I’m probably not going to hear from them. In a perfect world, they’ll send me quick responses, and I can have a date.
Then my brother will (if I’m lucky) finally send me the complete list of everyone going, so I can contact them and establish how many people I need to provide a rental space for!
This is something I really wanted to have done before last summer was over. I should be further along than this. I am in panic mode. 4 years ago
My brother is getting married next summer. The idea behind the bachelor’s party is to rent a cabin in southern Vermont, to accomodate his friends from Mass and NYC, as well as the Vermonters. If I rent a cabin, to get our money’s worth, I would insist on a 3 day/night minimum. The party itself will be a series of jams, since most of my brothers friends are musicians of some sort or another. He doesn’t care about the stripper thing, that’s not important. As long as we have a mostly secluded place to get very drunk and play loud music until the wee hours, everything will be good.
I’ve been scouting a little, and sent some suggestions to my brother. He replied with a suggestion of a much bigger place (more than a cabin) in northern Mass. So he’s telling me one thing and maybe expecting another?
Anyway, it’s not going to be as simple as I secretly hoped for, but realistically never expected. I should have insisted on strippers, it would have been easier… 4 years ago
