Ugh, I tried adjusting myself to the idea of having kids and for the life of me cannot stomach it. I’ve wanted to adopt since I was 22/23, and it isn’t something I want to give up-I feel too strongly about it. Yes I know, waffle-waffle, flip-flop, but that’s life I suppose. Natural family planning is a great tool all women should understand, but for my busy life and circumstances, it just doesn’t fit.

Okay, so now sadly I can’t adopt….No, I didn’t do anything illegal, but it’s rather the course of action I plan to take with my career. I don’t think many adoption agencies will look favorably upon it. So now I have to have my own kids. Trust me, adjusting myself to that idea wasn’t easy. It was either that or pass up a good opportunity to have a successful business. If you want to know more you can message me about it….but this goal is now re-opened.
I’ve quit BC starting today (day of my pill induced period). Hopefully all goes okay.

Seeing as how I don’t want to physically have children and would much rather adopt, I think I would be better off with a tubal ligation vs. FAM. So I’m leaving this goal in favor of something that suits me more. Good luck to everyone else!

The more I think about it, the more I would rather adopt than have my own children. But I’m sticking with this goal because I hate BC and would much rather have natural periods. Plus, I hate the whole pharmaceutical industry. I forgot to take my BBT today, (bad day) but I’ll remember tomorrow.

These are the sites I’m using:
http://www.yourdays.com
http://www.mymonthlycycles.com
http://www.fertilityfriend.com
The first one I’m using to see when I’m most likely to have a boy and the other two are helping me track my fertility. I purchased a thermometer a few days ago and started taking my temps. Its a really interesting process…I still need to read the book though.

I purchased a BBT thermometer and took my temp first thing this morning. I am also going to go off pills and use a non-hormonal method for BC because the pills are making me sick and I’m tired of making my body “think” that I’m pregnant when I’m really not.

I want to know my most fertile days and when I am most likely to conceive a boy….also, I want to keep better track of my periods and symptoms. I started 7/30 providing information for 7/29 and 7/30, I want to keep doing this on a daily basis. I am also using Your Days to find out when I am most likely to have a boy.

Despite the fact I have received several stupid – actually several REALLY, REALLY stupid comments – from various users about this, I really, really love NFP/FAM. (And why DO people feel the overwhelming urge to act like morons? Seriously…)
I tend to lean more towards the FAM end of this, and at the moment, more towards the Billings method, but either way, a synthetic hormone free body is definietly the way to go for me!
I did receive a bunch of NICE comments, too, so thanks to all for the intelligent tips and experiences!

I was browsing through the headlines of Sympatico.ca a few days ago, and seeing one article on contraception myths, I figured I’d take a look.
All but one of the myths they mentioned are false, with the exception of – you guessed it – the one about Natural Family Planning. (Actually, one of the others is debatable, but anyway…)
“You Can’t Get Pregnant on a Woman’s “Safe” Days” was the second myth. Why? The article explained without ANY facts or even real explanation why “safe” days don’t work. Their reason? ‘Noone can know for sure when safe days are.’
In a way… that’s true, because really the only FOOLPROOF contraception is, well… abstinence. But, on the same hand, it’s also a myth to say you can’t get pregnant on the pill!
I agree the “rhythm method” is inaccurate and untrue BUT this article wasn’t talking about “rhythm”, it was talking about ANYone who knows their body, knows their cycles and uses scientific evidence as to when they can and cannot conceive.
NO method of contraception is 100% absolute, (with of course the exception of abstinence, but I’ve already said that.) However, NFP is 98% accurate when used correctly, just like the pharmaceutical companies dream product and delightful little cash crop, The Pill.
Did the article surprise me? No, actually. But… it still makes me mad. Essentially the meaning behind their statement was “Don’t trust your body in it’s natural, capable state. Naturaly Family Planning and Fertilty Awareness isn’t true! USE DRUGS INSTEAD! :D”

Now that I’m getting back to the normal cycle of things, I’m getting closer and closer to completing this goal. It’s not really something you “complete”, it’s more so something you live, but I know when I’ll feel like I’ve accomplished this goal enough so to mark it as done.
I’ve also been looking into the Billings method which seems very much like the lazy way to do NFP. Even better, it seems just as reliable! I would like to chart though, regardless, just until I’m a bit more familiar with everything.
I love this. I wish they taught this in schools – there would be a lot less accidental pregnancies!
