How to learn about zen
How I did it: Reading as much as possible.
Read on yoga, Taoism, the life of the Buddha, the Diamond Sutra, the Heart Sutra, HH The Dalai Lama on both; read the Patirachs Boddhidharma, Lin Chi, read Bunkai and above all meditate. Meditate sitting, lying, walking, working, but always take time out in stillness - even stillness in motion - to do nothing and to achieve nothing.
Lessons & tips: You are closer than you know, and further than you think.
Resources: Libraries.

joie de vivre is mellow
I studied Zen first at ZCLA. I lived in a Zen temple in Japan after I graduated from college.
Zen was a lifeline for me in my late teens and early 20s. It literally saved my (non)-soul. Although I do not practice now in the Zen tradition, I have fond feelings for Rinzai Zen, rather the way you feel about your first love.
