The older you get, the more you become aware of the cruel reality that we live in. Life is scary and unstable. It can be there one minute, gone the next. It can change from perfect to shattered with the drop of a hat. It can pass you by without you ever truly realizing it was there. So the more clear this picture of actuality becomes, the closer you get to the opportunity of either embracing or rejecting the situation around you.
To me, the older I get, the scarier everything around me seems to become. However, accompanying this universal fear is the essence of beauty, for I’m realizing more and more that every day is a miracle and every breath, a gift. Everything within is reaching out for me to embrace this opportunity, to selflessly and fearlessly jump headfirst into the world while I have the chance, for the moment may end too soon. On the surface, though, is still that human instinct to pay far too much attention to my emotions, even the ones that sometimes tell me to take life for granted. I hope to find a balance between the two, where I can love and appreciate the world for every moment it offers me, while still being in touch with my human emotions. Life is a tricky and complicated thing, but I believe that if we can see beyond the immediate temptations that befall us, everything will be more strikingly beautiful than we’ve ever even ventured to imagine.
