sarritabonita is going to exercise!!
I’m ready to go, or atleast I think I am. I believe I’ll be going to mexico city sometime early next year to visit. I want to get a feel for it. I’ll be staying with my boyfriends family.
How I did it: Really, I have been dreaming of it since high school, but have been fixating on it more and more over the past 6 years. About a year before I moved, I started seriously investigating options and writing grants. I got certified to teach English as a second language so that I would have more career options. However, I ended up being hired as a bilingual secretary in Mexico by a company who has taken care of getting me a visa!
My interest in other countries and cultures lead me to want to live abroad, but I am finding that living abroad leads to many discoveries about myself and my own culture than I could have imagined.

I want to live in Mexico for a while. Pretend I’m a beach-dwelling ex-pat, and drink muchas margaritas
I was born there but haven’t been there since. My parents bought a home in Guadalajara not to long ago so I have a place to stay for free. Hopefully by next year :]
My Dad bought a house 3 years ago in Mazatlan, Mexico. I still have not been there. Free stay, beautiful beaches, latin women. I want to be there.
I dont know why but mexico has always been so interesting to me, the language, food, dancing, everything.
I want to live in rural Mexico, somewhere near the ocean. In a simple little house and go to the market every day and find folk art in the countryside. I want to drink margaritas on the beach and watch the sunset.
This is my dream, and my dream job involves working in the environmental field or maybe being a traveling photographer. Once you go to Mexico, it captures your heart and you wish that you didn’t have to leave.
I will keep this filed away as a dream for now, but hopefully soon it will be a reality.
People Todd works with go all the time. I could still get a chance to live in Mexico someday!
Maybe it will be by the ocean…
Here is the scoop…don’t let broken Spanish hold you back, I went with little grasp of it and lived there for 6 months. Also don’t forget to visit small towns and rural places (that is the real Mexico!) One tip…pack light and keep your eyes open on public transport and at ATMs…common sense really.
Don’t forget a bright colored skirt or hat…Living in Mexico means having fun!!!!
i’ve been living in baja california, mexico for nearly three years now. i must say it is challenging and quite rewarding.
