create a home-based healing space

...but I think it’s worth checking in on every once in a while.

I was on the way to Esalen, thinking, My teacher should write a proposal to facilitate a workshop here, and then I thought, Or, you know, I could do it!

The idea of facilitating workshops and circles as a way to build my experience and clientele is very appealing to me…

Someone recently suggested a course on the sensual preparation and enjoyment of food. How much do you love that?

I was at work last week, and out of the blue, a woman with whom I am friendly, but don’t know well, came over to me with a book on Southern cooking. On the cover was a picture of a plantation, veranda and all. It looked like Tara.

“Could you imagine yourself living here?”

I was a little taken aback because she is a black woman, and I am not. My little inner voice was like “what are you implying?” I seriously thought it was a trick question.

As friendly as can be, though, she said, “I saw this picture, and I thought of you. No idea why, but I can imagine you in that house.”

I am a dreadlocked, tattooed woman. I may be white, but I stand out, all right, and I’m a little jumpy in small Southern towns. It has never occurred to me to move there.

But she did get me thinking…

I could probably find a big old house with a lot of land, for less than I could do in California.

I ran into the woman at the place with the yurts, and we talked about sexology, and then…

I introduced a friend of mine to the basics of my Erotic Healing practice, because I needed it. He did beautifully, I feel much better, and I am terribly, terribly encouraged on my journey!

How much fun would it be to just dress up, dance around, and remember what your body feels like all over?

To breathe, and stretch, and loll in the shade or feel the sun on your skin? To touch and be touched, if you chose, with tickles or light fingertips tracing words on your back?

The whole point of it all would be to have fun! To be able to enter a safe, loving space, and relax and play.

Which I need to spend a lot more time doing, myself!

If you are a woman who menstruates, imagine having an evening where you could go hang out with other women on their cycle, receive body scrubs, beauty treatments, hot stone massage, nap near the fire with a hot water bottle if you like, read or chat quietly with other women, and share a lovely, homemade, iron-rich supper. I’m also imagining having colonics available, perhaps psychic readings & aura cleansings, and healthy box lunches available to take with, for the next day.

It would be my preference that the whole event be staffed by women who have already entered menopause. Too often, we “age out” of the healing professions, and I’d like to see the women with wisdom be recognized for their tremendous gifts & talents.

I’d love to live in a converted warehouse, big enough to have dance classes, healing circles, performance & movement, workshops, and do bodywork.
