Teach people that Muslim and Terror are not synonomous

I am always amazed that the masses feel a need to judge indiviuals based on the actions of a few radical. There is an ever-present paralyzing fear of the Islamic community b/c people lack the ability to just people instead of groups. I find it laughable the b/c I have a traditional islamic name, I am instantly labled a terrorist. Further, the term terrorist is just and empy and hackeneyed phrase. Anyone that you don’t understand is a terrorist. Spare me. How dumb are you that you cannot seperate that actions of a few misanthropes that happen to have a commom religion from everyone else in the world? Be clear, there is not on religion (save Buddhists) that have individuals that have committed atrocities in the name of religion. Do I denounce all of them or just acknowledge that different people think differently. No.

I live across the street from a Church of Latter Day Saints…do I think they are all child fucking polygomists? No.

I’m Muslim and Arab-American and I hate all the ignorance surrounding my culture! For now I just correct people on a case by case basis (when I notice it I speak up) but I want to do something on a much larger scale.
