How to bike 1000+ miles
How I did it: It was New Years 2008, I had gotten into cycling the summer before, and I decided that I was going to bike 1000 miles this year. I started in the spring because I didn't have any cold weather gear, and kept going doing longer and longer rides. My mileage went up and down per week, sometimes only 15, all they way to around 120.
Lessons & tips: The most important thing is HAVE VARIETY IN WHERE YOU RIDE! Whenever I lost motivation, it was when I got stuck doing the same loop or trail, nothing changed, so why do it? Find a few good routes and rotate them so you don't burnout.
Resources: The internet, Bicycling Magazine, and my local bike shop.
