I want to be a real bassist. 2 years ago

I played upright for 4 years, and then wanted to transition to electric bass. Got one for my birthday, taught myself what I could and that was that. I want to be a real bassist. I want to take lessons and learn all there is to know.

Bass is awesome and definitly worth learning how to play. It’s not hard to learn the basics so don’t give up and practice practice practice! Good Luck!!!

    Rockstar me 3 years ago

I love playing bass. I always thought I would have a relationship with a guitar. It turns out that I prefer heavy bass strings.

I played in a band a few years back. I didn’t really know how to play bass. My brother needed a bass player and asked me to do it. He has always been talented at every instrument he’s picked up, so he said he would just “show” me what to play. And he did, and it sounded good to me. I just memorized which strings/notes to play when. After 3 years of looking at my bass in the corner and not picking it up more than once every six months, I’ve decided that I want to take lessons and learn to play for real. When I’m done, I’ll start my own band.

Ran Into My First Teacher 4 years ago

I was waiting outsided Curly’s Luncheonette on 14th Street when my first bass teacher recognized me and said hello. Maybe I’ll give him a call when I decide to act on this goal.

Been a Long Time 4 years ago

I took lessons for many years, and stopped when I got the sense that my teacher had run out of lesson plan. I wasn’t learning enough to justify the expense. Now it’s a few years on and my practice has grown listless. I’m okay being my own trainer at the gym, but I need some direction in my musical growth.
