I’m no longer using H2O for my class. Good luck with the project

Hi Paul & Molly,
How does H2O handle time zone differences? I’m running a project on H2O with my students here in Texas and while I set the rotisserie to close a 1/2 hour before class (10:30am Central), students have been caught off-guard when they suddenly get locked out of an assignment at 9:30am! Is this because your server is in Cambridge?
Thanks

Students in my “Classical Sociological Theory” class just completed the first round of their first rotisserie discussion and I’m looking forward to future assignments. (This round was just to allow them to introduce themselves and to get them used to the idea of an online discussion.)
I’m a little disappointed with their first postings. They were quite brief and many didn’t answer the question posed (Write about your background in Theory, what you remember from your Introductory clases, etc.) However, I hope that the ratings system built into the rotisserie will highlight the work of students who DO post meaningful replies, spurring the others to do better.
I wish that H2O would allow the project leader to also rate or score postings. This may run counter to the democratic ideals behind the H2O concept, but would make the engine a more useful tool for class-related projects.
