i am confessing...i got to day 35...and then unraveled 8 months ago

I got to 35 days in a row, and then got super sick with bronchitis, but I am not giving up on this goal, I totally felt like keylimepies and its a freaking me outkind of goal. I was running in the garage because of the cold, and that is too much, not my kind of running, I think I need to wait till the trails open up and we don’t have 0 degree days up here in Idaho, (random thoughts but this is helping me) Also my skiing has been off the charts, I have been skate skiing and downhill skiing and its hard to get it all in. The latest race that picked my interest was the Pocatello 50 miler in May, so I could be back on this goal by the weekend.
OBTW had an awesome 2 hour run on my birthday in Jan, and it was a clean air day in Idaho, not like a few years back when I ran on a red day in SLC and my lungs hurt for days…runners need clean air, rally for it…—xojk

i’ve wanted to start this goal for so fucking long.

last night i ran a mile :) it was very unexpected. i was just walking on the treadmill at a decent incline. this was two hours into my workout, then i decided to run. it felt GREAT!

signing up for a race 9 months ago

there is this little city close to where i live and they have the BEST races. it’s so cute, so beautiful, so peaceful…i just love running there.

there is a race on the 28th and i’m signing up for it. although i haven’t been running, i know i can finish it. even if it means walking some of it. it’s only a 5k, so if i REALLY wanted, i know i am capable of running the whole thing. we shall see…

my running program starts tomorrow! i’m so looking forward to it. i’m ready.



day one 9 months ago

am starting this goal all over again. Today. Day one. Du duuuuum. Ran at the gym on the treadmill, 5 and a bit kms, slower than my norm but my norm lately has been not running! It felt good and I am glad to have started again :) . Am going to train for a half marathon with a running friend. Have to stop being so critical of myself and just dive back into things.

Days 2 and 3 9 months ago

Last night late and this morning early felt great! Chilly, but good – the 5k route I adopted 11 years ago when I first started running and it was nearly my only lifeline. It feels weird to be doing such a short distance, and at such a totally pathetic speed, again – but I’ll extend it as I regain strenghth. Atrophy is a terrible thing!
