How to visit Egypt"What a different world from home in the U.S. I enjoyed experiencing it young. There were many people twice my age on the trip and it was an eye opener as far as how different the Arab world is from any other place I've visited."
How I did it: Booked with ITTA Tours for 16 days. Went with a group of 26 from all over the U.S. I took my wife and we did the full monty. Went to Siwa Oasis as well. I would recommend going there to meet the Siwans. Lessons & tips: Have small change available for "Baksheesh" or tipping. You can get this small change from the banks and local shops when you buy bottled water. Tipping is a way of life in Egypt and you will do well to honor and understand it early on. I've also heard of folks who bring ball point pens to tip with as well. Resources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baksheesh

How I did it: I booked through Contiki tours which was great. It definitely helped having a knowledgeable guide and a fun group of people to travel with. It's probably worth the optional trip to Abu Simbel, but the Great Pyramids in Giza were still my favorite. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I booked a trip with Expat Explore and had an amazing time. My friend and I went all over Egypt, from Cairo to Abu Simbel to the Red Sea, and it was fabulous! We barely slept, but it was so worth doing. I highly recommend this trip. Read how I did it…

I had the fortune of traveling a great deal when I was a little girl due to my fathers job as a start up nuclear engineer for Westinghouse. We lived in the Phillipines for a little over three years. We got to travel a great deal. In doing this I garnered a great appreciation for ancient civilizations, my two favorite being Greek Mythology and Egyptology. I visited Greece when I was 8 or 9 (although I want to return) the one place I want to visit that i haven’t is Egypt and see the Pyramid and Valley of the Kings.

Azumel is a Self-Knowing Healthy Extrovert? Who knew?
Since a kid I wanted to be an archaeologist, when I started going to school I realized that jobs in that field are few and far between and pay very little. It is still my dream 2 month vacation, but I’d take a shorter trip if I needed too.
inlove_withnight is going to see TAY SWIFT(L)
just a rough idea of what i must do to achieve this goal
cost for contiki tour + spending = approx $3000
summer earnings (may-july) = ~$4300 (4 days/week) ~$5300 (5 days/week)
january-april: work once a week = $140/paycheck (= put away $25 for every shift)
= ~375 by april (just for egypt! untouchable!)
you want this so bad! DO NOT BLOW IT!
Cairo, Egypt looks amazing in photos and I want to see it with my own eyes. How could you not want to go somewhere that beautiful? Another photo shows how massive they are compared to the modern city. http://www.world-mysteries.com/mg_egypt.jpg
I’m an Egyptology student, so I’ll be moving to Cairo for a few months to do research! One year to go and I’ll be there!
