I wish I had a week of free time. Money is not a problem; time is.
i don’t personally like skiing, but if that’s what floats your boat, it’s a lovely place to do it. prices on accommodation etc. vary, so shop around. and remember, the alps cover four countries, so there is plenty of choice.
But i definitely want to go ! Hopefully, next spring but more realistcally, it is going to be next winter due to money concern and the fact that i want to go to the carribean first. =)
Honestly, the slopes are better in colorado. But for the view, and the expiriance, there is nothing better.
Both Stubaier Glacier in Innsbruck, Austria and Chamonix, France are amazing places to ski. The trails in Chamonix, at least at La Tour were much easier to ski. Both areas are absolutely gorgeous. The picture is from Chamonix in March 2005.
I was in alps last weekend and it was the best skiing ever! Thanks to http://www.zimni-alpy.cz we found really cool and quite cheap hotel, not many people there and nearly nobody at pistes! for other ski resorts! I’ve seen they have forecasts as well and many more, really cool site.
LaMina just got accepted to a MA program at Duke.
...is amazing. Especially when it’s your own trip. I went to Chamonix on my own in 2001, I tried fondue and the most amazing and driest white wine. (I really don’t like white wine, but in France! whew!)
