I’ve sidelined it for this year to make room for shorter, less costly trips. Depending on how much those trips cost, I’m aiming for the 2010 (preferably) or 2011 (if absolutely necessary) season. I am making a point of visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain, which should appease me and make this goal seem less urgent, as they have a very similar coaster count. I imagine I will need to budget about $1500 – of course, it could end up being much more (especially if I decide to fly), or perhaps even less if I’m very lucky. This will be a challenge for someone who doesn’t work and has several other (lesser, but much easier) must-take trips on their agenda. Also, I don’t drive, and plan on going alone, which will add to the freneticness and tension of the trip.
Edit: That’s funny, I thought I would need $3,000, not $1,500. But why would I remember now? Anyway, I’m thinking of “accidentally” going there next summer, if I can figure it right.
How to go to Cedar Point
How I did it: You just gotta get it up and go do it.. and for those of you afriad of coasters... suck it up. Its so worth it. They are amazing. And safe. No worries.

breakthru Not in my backyard, utensils! Go back to China!
It’s so fun. I love all of the rides, and spending time with friends
Went with three other people, and we drove from Boston, Ma out to Ohio. Part of the thrill was probably the road trip in general, and also I had forgotten how much I love roller coasters! In the past Amusement parks haven’t been fun because of long lines and crowds. But we went on a Thursday at the end of August, so it was amazing.
We left Tampa, Fl just to go to Ohio and visit Ceder Point I didn’t really want to because gas was so high but I am glad I did and I would not mind spending the money again….. We had like 100 pictures but are cam go taken….
ive been there like 6 times and never rode any costers until my last year….i cryed before every single one but ended up loving them all, i cant wait to go back, its totally worth it!
I love Cedar Point (so much that I’ve even worked there for a summer, which was the best experience of my life!). Like others who posted here, I used to go there every summer with my family from the time I was born, up until I was about 13 (I’m the youngest so I kinda got the short end of the stick for family vacations). I’m 23 now, and have gone there every year for the last 5 years, including a year I spent working there. Its just an amazing place. You forget you’re in Sandusky, OH . .. it really does feel like a real get-away. I am sad to say, however, that I think the park has gone downhill in recent years. They are focusing too much on huge expensive thrill rides and starting to take out a lot of the smaller, more traditional things (anybody remember the Pirate Ride, or Jungle Larry’s, or Kid Arthur’s Court?). I recommend visiting Kennywood in Pittsburgh if you like smaller, old fashioned, more unique alternative rides. Cedar Point is still in my opinion (and MANY other’s) the greatest amusement park in the world. If you want to do it right, the way to go is by staying at the Hotel Breakers (on site), and you need to spend at least 2 days. I usually make it a weekend … go up Friday afternoon and get the starlite pass (half price for after 6:00 pm), spend all day saturday at the park, and then Sunday split between the park and the water park. I also HIGHLY recommend visiting the Lake Erie Islands while you’re in the area. It is also like a whole new world . . . it almost feels like you’re somewhere exotic, and you’re on freaking Lake Erie!
I love Cedar Point. The best ride is the Millenium Force. My husband and I even went there for our honeymoon. I have been going there since I was a kid. If you get the chance to go, don’t hesitate. You will love it.
Ive been to Cedar Point twice now, once you have been here you can never appreciate any other Amusement Park b/c they just don’t compare! My favorite ride is the Mantis. I even rode the Dragster front seat, which is amazing I would compare that to the freefall of skydiving. But if you are traveling there, do NOT take route 12….I totaled my car on teh way back from Cedar Point in this little town of Fostoria. :-(
