I really hate that the fitness center isn’t open on Friday evenings. I need to get a better schedule but the only option is going during the morning or afternoon on Friday because there are no weekend hours _ I’d also like to start swimming at least once a week ^^

How I did it: 1. Bought a mini elliptical machine for $90 on Amazon to be my exercise of last resort: even if I don't want to go outside or make it to the gym. Set up my computer on a bookshelf in front of the elliptical to use while doing the elliptical, watch hulu, etc. 2. Restarted weight-lifting following the program in the book _New rules of lifting for women_.3. Participated in Spark People, which gives me a wa… Read how I did it…

My foot is feeling better, probably just from being used continuously. I can still feel it sometimes but it’s definitely better. My back was killing me yesterday but I finally ended up going to the fitness center and signing up so that I can get strength training into my routine. I think I’ve been plateauing on my workouts so it will be nice to mix it up.
My foot is being lame again, feels kind of stiff after my walk tonight. Hopefully it will go away _ I’ve been trying to get back into varying my intensity in regular intervals during my walks, getting the heart rate up and then resting, repeat. Didn’t need to do that yesterday night, though, because I was down at Wittenberg (my college) and I took a walk around campus. Absolutely beautiful and the many hills make for a great workout. Anyway, even with the intensity changing, I’m afraid that I’m going to plateau, although I feel great right now, due to the combined change in my diet and regular exercise. Regardless, I think it’s a good idea to add more variety to my workouts and I want to throw some strength training into the mix, need to build my biceps back up to a respectable level. Will help with my metabolism, as well. Trevathan showed me this program called P90x, although he said there is a P90 program which is less intense. The program apparently has a cult following on youtube, with many people showing off before and after videos. It looks pretty comprehensive and definitely something I could into because it incorporates yoga as well as various other types of exercise. thumbs up

Yikes! Again I’m facing the same “flojera” that always happens. I get home and I just don’t feel like going… even though I know I should go, I know I’ll feel good when I’m there, I know that consistency is the key, I know that people who accomplish their fitness goals are the ones who go to the gym even if they don’t feel like it…
I’m really trying to get around this.
I’m working on a couple of different strategies.
The problem, is that I’m stuck in the middle. When I don’t go the gym, I feel bad about that. The months that I’m not exercising, I’m very aware and uncomfortable of that fact. That ends up creating the motivation to get me back in the gym, but then I start the other battle – the battle against the lazy me.
This will continue to be an issue, until I’ve made exercise a NORMAL part of my life.
Anyways, I didn’t go on Monday, and I was annoyed about that, and I went yesterday and just did the treadmill for 40 minutes. It felt good!
Instead of walking yesterday, I decided to push mow (actual rotary mower, no motors here) the front lawn since it needed it. Unfortunately, the grass had been growing for a little over a week and was far too thick to cut effectively. It sure did make for a good workout, though :)

I have such issues with exercise… now that I’ve started again, I don’t want to miss ONE day, for fear that that will turn into two days, and then three days, etc.
Especially right now, I feel really motivated, ‘cause I’m just getting back on track.
However… for some reason, I was visualizing 4 days a week… and it’s Friday and I’m pretty tired and my knee hurts.
I went last night, very late, and I did 10 minutes on the stair climber and 15 minutes on the rowing machine.
I’m wondering if I should go tonight, or not. I do think I need a rest – my knee hurts, and I have to let it rest, otherwise it’ll keep hurting.Hmmm… wel, I’ll see how I feel when I get home from work today.

I was tired last night and I arrived home at 8pm… as I was coming home, I was thinking about NOT going to the gym, and arguing with myself, “You should go. It’s not a big deal, you’ll feel good, etc etc”
When I got to my house, it turned out there was big party going on the flower market that faces my apartment. So that was the best excuse the get out of the house.
I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, and 20 minutes walking. It felt really good.

I went again. Did 25 min walking on the treadmill and 10 minutes on the rowing machine. So far so good.

I didn’t even think about it. I just decided I had to do it, and I might as well do it now.
I did 20 minutes on the eliptical and about 5 minutes on the rowing machine. The rowing machine was a dare – in the ealier months that I was going to this gym, I always eyed the rowing machine, but was too scared (of what?) to use it.
Um, I used it and it feels ok. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow!!!
I’ve begun to take walks on a daily basis, usually just around the school next to my house, lots of pavement/sidewalk for me to just mosey across. Maybe once a week I’ll start going to the park, had a nice, cathartic walk at Indian Point on Friday :) Anyway, I’d like to do more than just walking but I don’t want to spend the exorbitant amount of money for a fitness center pass. Beth said we should be exercise partners and I agreed, just keep checking on each others’ progress and making sure we’re not slacking. She sent me some links for exercises that you can do in your own home and so I’d like to start giving some of those a shot ^^
