I love to sail. I grew up on and around boats, and I’ve spent my last few summers almost entirely on the water. There’s just something so gratifying about gliding across the water using nothing but wind and sails. I’ve been all up and down the East Coast, but I think sailing in the Mediterranean Sea is the Holy Grail of sailing expeditions. I’ll get there eventually. Just as soon as I crawl out from under the avalanche of student debt I’m anticipating :)
I am interested in planning a trip from the East Coast of Italy around the Med to Greece and Siciliy and Mallorca, Spain. I need to find a boat and learn the ports we should or should not stop at.
We plan to make the trip after playing in the World Beach Ultimate Cup, Paganello (www.paganello.com) on the Rimini beaches in Italy. The tournament is always scheduled over Easter weekend.
Anyone have experience in this area?
I have been sailing in New England, but never farther. When I was in Italy this summer I was so envious of the people out on their sailboats in the Adriatic, Liguria, Tyrrehenian and Mediterranean Seas. I will definitely do that someday. It will be spectacular…
Who can imagine something nicer? I would love to sail the mediterranian, for several weeks.
Maybe it’s something i will incorporate into my travels in 2008. Toby’s cousin in spain goes sailing with a friend sometimes.
I have a chance to sail the med this summer, June and July, maybe part of August too. I’d be starting in Nice, going to the Costa Brava, Balearic Islands, Sardinia, Corsica, Elba, then back to Nice. However I really should be staying in Madrid and taking classes so that I can graduate college next spring. Ahhhhhh, so hard not to go sailing!
