I can tell that my body is going…”wtf Amy?” When I hop on the bike first thing, my rearend is sore and my muscles are kind of stiff.. I’m pretty tired by the time I get home.. this week, I’ve not been much productive good once I get home.
I know it’s just adjustments… I think Monday will be much better.. I will have accomplished 5 days in a row and then gotten two days off…
The hills are definitely becoming easier for me. I’m getting the gear shifting thing down, which is helping me get up the hills better, and my legs are getting stronger…
But man.. I’m tuckered out right now…. it’s just a big change in my life.. mentally and physically.
I need new gear when I can afford it.. especially a new bike.

Windy and rainy, but after a couple of hills, that felt pretty refreshing! I can tell I’m already raising my metabolism overall because this morning, when I first woke up, I was overheating practically..
I think I went a bit faster today.. getting there.. the hills are getting more doable! This is great!

by the end of this week! This was my first full fledged ‘permanent’ bike commuter day. I did my first commute last week, but when Andrew got a job, he needed the car.
So, that makes me a bike commuter every day! :) Today has been wonderful so far. Because of the bike commuting, I’ve had to plan ahead, so yesterday I took some time to find breakfast and lunch stuff that I could haul in my backpack.
This morning, I feel refreshed, I’m sitting with a mug of coffee, a delicious warm vegan cornmeal blueberry muffin, will have some soy yogurt in a little while, and I am revved up! My body is awake and I am ready to start a wonderful day at work.
This is SO cool! :D

Starting Monday I will have to ride my bike! For good reason! Andrew has a job!!
He will need the only car I have access to… so either I ride the bus (blek eww no), or ride my bike (multi-tasking busting ass workout, yes!)........
I’m a little overwhelmed but really excited! I’ll be in the best shape of my life soon! Yay!

I commuted to work this morning by bike! Yay!! When I first woke up, I kinda didn’t think I’d go through with it, but I just kept going through the motions I had planned out (and I had packed my back pack the night before).
I have to say, I am a little tired right now because I didn’t get a totally great night’s rest, but my body is invigorated and I feel very good.
The ride was very nice. It started out pretty dark, but as I got closer to work, it was starting to light up. The air was crisp and refreshing. It was peaceful.
What’s really awesome is that I can pretty much eat whatever I want today because I will have spent probably a good hour or more on riding my bike today. And there are a lot of uphill intervals (which pretty much kick my butt, especially since I’m carrying my backpack full of stuff too), but I think over time I will get stronger and the hills will be easier.
I’m just a tiny bit freaked about dealing with the 5pm traffic, but you know, the thing is, if I want to go home, I will just have to deal with it. And that’s how I roll.

Went on my first full fledged trial run tonight. Wow.. it was a challenge. It’s a long trek.
Went with someone.. their bike kinda flitzed out so that wasn’t fun.
It was very cold out. I need to remember to have various types of layers for whatever comes up.
I don’t know that I will start tomorrow (Monday), after what I did tonight. It was great, but it’s going to take some getting used to. Besides, I think my legs would give out in the morning.. they’re not quite used to this yet.
I will try to prep more tomorrow and then hopefully crosses fingers I will be ready on Tuesday with plenty of courage. It’s not terrible, but there’s a part of me that is really freaked about the amount of traffic at 5pm.
Sooo.. yeah.. that’s the latest on this goal.

I was a bit of a wuss this morning and opted for the car instead. The wind was howling and it was just pretty chilly out.. so I took the car..
However, tomorrow is supposed to be better.. so I’ll make a go of it. I plan to ride when I get home though.. just to get some exercise and get nice and comfy on my bike again.

So, if all goes well, and the weather remains “chance of showers” tomorrow (which doesn’t necessarily mean heavy precipitation), then I am gearing up to do my first commute to work on a bike!
I kinda gathered a good majority of my stuff last night and will finish gathering tonight. It’s going to be a totally different morning and I have to think about it differently.
Anyway, hopefully sometime this week I can write about the ride. And hopefully I can ride more and more as more days allow. (Not super crappy days because I don’t have the ultimate rain outfit yet.)

So I was invited to a 6am spin class. like at one o those expensive gymns. It wasn’t too bad, kinda fun actually. I enjoyed riding without worrying about freezing my nuts off. It reiterated my need to improve my cardio health. I’m going to take those hills with a little more enthusiasm from now on. I should get upbeat gymn music and a motivational trainer to follow me everywhere I bike.
I’m taking today, the coldest day so far, off from riding. but tomorrow, I’ll be back out there braving the elements.

Well, It’s not as cold as it is in other places. But still. I was out there, with my itchy face mask and extra layers struggling up that hill. The mostly downhill ride home was extra sweet.
now can I get up and do it again tomorrow?
