I just want my Mark and I and all other innocent people to be safe. I just thank God everyday that he’s safe. I pray each day that he’ll be safe in London.
I’ve spent a fun day near Warren Street…
I work five minutes from Warren Street station and
today had lunch with two friends in a pub just past
the station. We were discussing the current tube
sutuation – having to walk from Liverpool St to
Moorgate, the massive police presence at stations now
etc – when I said, ‘It’s probably pretty safe at the
moment as everyone is so alert.’ DUH!
The next minute we heard masses of sirens. Glyn looked
out of the window and comments that the traffic
appears to have been diverted along the side road.
Then a guy came into the pub who had been on the tube
at Warren Street. He said they’d smelt smoke then the
doors inbetween the carriages had opened and people
had just pushed their way through and along in a blind
panic.
We decided it had probably been panic more than smoke
and calmly finished our meal. On leaving the pub
however there were lots of police about busy cordoning
off the road and turning traffic back. Then we heard
rumours of an explosion on the tube and my stomach
flipped. We couldn’t get back to work the way we’d
come so had to walk all the way to Great Portland
Street Station and cut around the back. Back in work -
it’s a big glass building practically overlooking
Warren Street – we all googled for Sky News and
watched the police pushing the cordon further and
further back until our building was actually inside
it. Someone – bless their hearts – thought that maybe
it was a chemical bomb and that was why the police
were clearing such a large area. Someone else said
that we’d know for sure if we all collapsed after a
few minutes of leaving the building har har. Not much
work was done – though I did manage to complete my
little incident report for one of our little
applications.
Eventually the police moved the cordon forward so we
decided that maybe the breathing equipment wouldn’t be
required on leaving the building.
We were evacuated at 15:30. Not sure why as by this
time it was evident that things weren’t getting worse.
I walked to Euston Sation. I asked a policeman whether
any tubes or buses were running and he was pretty
negative. Whoopee, thought I, I’ve always fancied
walking all the way to Highams Park from Euston
Square. But when I got to Euston I was told that there
were buses and also the mainline stations were
working. Yippee.
The problem here is that it is all getting MUCH too
close to home. I use Warren Street all the time. I use
the buses all the time. I use London all the damn
time. If people don’t want to be part of London they
should *$£@ off. If people over here express delight
when we are killed they should blasted be kicked out
of the country.
I will resume the drudge into work tomorrow
along with the rest of Blair’s cannon fodder. We may
not be afraid but the least he could do is climb out
of his armoured vehicle and walk alongside us.
...minor bomb(s). BBC news not really telling us much. Mobile phone not working. Underground lines suspended…what is going on!!
Flangerella-roo is looking at her goals
and it is only the 3rd time i have been in london the whole of my adult life the time before this was uneventful ( going through gatwick coming back from new zealand) but the time before that i arrived in london to find that the ira had bombed the underground, Duh I must be very lucky. There for the grace of god go I
I walked past today to catch a bus. There were so many people walking as there was a broken down train at Kings X. Mounds of flowers there and people laying them down as I watched. I’m sure I wasn’t alone in checking that the luggage rack was empty as I got on my tube in the morning.
I work in Aldgate and could possibly have been on the train that the bomb was on. However I was on a training course in Euston this week and so managed to be oblivious to the whole nightmare until dozens of texts and voicemails bombarded my phone. Felt completely helpless and worried about my workmates. Managed to get through after trying to ring on my mobile for ages…learned that all my workmates were accounted for and stuck in the office!
I was watching BBC1 when it flicked suddenly over to the bomb reports. I’m not anywhere near, I down live in surrey, but it’s frankly close enough.
Stand together everybody.
i dont live IN london, but like 30minutes away on the train. I live near bluewater and bromely, and they were closed. i was really scared. but yeah its so good we have such a great ambulance emergency service and we had a plan if terroists did come.
It really made me realsie, ive seen all these terroists things on the tv and the news, and i never thought it would hit home. And it has, and its just made me realise, as well as loads of other people probably, you never know whats going to happen around the corner. You should tell people you love them, its time likes these it makes you realsie how life is sepcial. okay im ramberling on, lol.
