Yea, already installed the basic apps and still trying to calibrate my monitor..My pics look horrible. Still, i can’t wait to try 3ds max here. :D
My laptop cant handle multiple programs simultaneously. Esp now that I’ll be dealing with renders and large raw files. Sometimes even when working with Illustrator and PS, while uploading and listening to music..its taking a long time. Yeah yeah a laptop isnt for that.. Hence the need to buy another PC since i cant always work at the studio…
I have an aging little machine that handles games but has definitely seen its day.
I am planning on spending $2k (AUD) and will save up over the next couple of months…
The old Computer is so nousy and doesn’t work at all.
I would like to buy a replacement.
I bought a Compaq 2029, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13MHz, 2Gb RAM, 250Gb HD, wide LG TFT monitor. I’ve hooked it up to my broadband feed. Next thing to do is copy the files I want to keep from my old system. Then I want to set up Ubuntu Linux.
I went to PC World today & browsed around. I already had a good idea what I wanted from reading internet and computer mags but I wanted to see some PCs in the “flesh” before buying. I found just what I wanted but they didn’t have any in stock (only the display model). They say they’ll be having more in by next Saturday, so here’s hoping.
In the meantime I’m running on a very old system that I built in 1998. It’s a real chug-along by today’s standards. I did have a later one, bought 2nd hand, but after 3 years it developed a leaky capacitor problem and now the mother board is a complete write-off.
I got a gateway tablet pc that’d been discontinued at Bestbuy on credit for a thou. My brother found out that a better model would be coming down to the same price a week later. He pissed me off that week so bad I almost moved out. This close, I tell ya. We worked it out, went back the next day, got the new pc and a host of other deals you get if you buy a new notebook. Now, sittin pretty. And in the hole for a thou.
I’ve bought my PC in 1998. It’s still working but I can’t wait anymore for minutes to boot and load every simple application. Not to mention I don’t have a 3d card so I can’t play most of the games…
