just a ride
bill’s talent for stating the blindingly obvious and his insistence on living life to the full with humour is perhaps the best life philosophy i have come across,it is ashame we lost him so young but his cannon of work at least is a comprehensive display of what made him tick,i reckon he ought to be taught in schools…....

Bill Hicks literally saved my life. I’d almost forgotten how great Bill was and how deeply I love him but recently, while having a really low point in my life I started to remember and honestly, Bill has been a force of optimism for me in that period. He really helps you get over things, by just reminding you, it’s just a ride.
I’m in the habbit of collecting entire discographies of my favorite artists and Bill is really on the top so it’s really easy for me to distribute Bill Hick’s entire work in one or two DVDs, which is what I’m doing with every person I meet and befriend. And when they too are low, I remind them to put on the Revelations performance and fast forward to the end. Because really, it’s just a ride.

I think we have almost every one of his recorded stand up performances in our collection. Every time we meet new people (that we like) we give them a copy of one. I love the it’s just a ride documentary. When we have people over for dinner we like to watch one of his stand up acts. When it’s over they want to know all about him and watch another one.

I’ve been doing what I do with promoting anything..going up to someone I know and asking if they’ve heard of it or in this case him…when they say no or maybe I ramble off one of his bits and then say “you should find some of his stuff…”

My girlfriend is now hooked on the guy’s comedy and even hunted down Chas Early, an actor/comedian who does a stand-up show AS the late great Bill Hicks. Apparently he has the guy right down, so I’m intrigued to see him.
