This story is very difficult to read. The grammar and punctuation at times is non-existent. Dialogue is quoted in some places but not in others. Prose is quoted and punctuated as dialogue but the tense and pronouns are left as third person. I think this needs a lot of editing work.

Charlotte Bronte was born at about the time when Jane Austen died. Her writing is in the same style as Austen’s but her portrayel of women is diametrically opposed that of Austen’s heroines. Charlotte seems to value the mind and independent spirit of women whereas Jane appears to value the ability to size up a man’s purse above all else. That type of women does exist in Bronte’s stories but they are viewed always with just a touch of disdain.
I was surprised at some of the subject matter in Jane Eyre. The detailing by Rochester’s personal life, the mistresses he kept and the fact that he married a mixed-race woman. I’ve never read a story of that time that went into those subjects except in the erotica genre (is erotica a genre?).
This story, I believe, is more realistic than Jane Austen’s stories.
In all I enjoyed it very much.
