learn to play guitar and sing at the same time

I am working hard to learn how to play guitar, my mates are sayng that I am sounding good, but reckon that I should sing as well. let’s keep in touch to see what we can achieve… I f u know something that may help let me know..many thanks

That’s the song I’m working on. I was doing well learning to play guitar for a while and then I got busy. Well “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol is EASY to learn. It’s only 3 chords, A E F and most of the song is just picking two strings 12121212121212….so simple. But I can’t sing it at the same time. I get lost in one or the other. Maybe if I can do this I’ll record it in GarageBand and then put it on my website.

For the longest time I wasn’t able to sing and play at the same time. Either I’d lose track of what I was supposed to be playing on the guitar or just wasn’t able to sing the right notes. I don’t think it’s a question of how well you can actually play. But you can’t concentrate too much either on the singing or the guitar part. Just try to listen to how the chords change and figure out how to match that with your voice. It doesn’t matter if it’s not exactly the way you hear it on the record either. Just as long as you get the two parts to go together.

I am not really good at either .. but my friend just gave me his old guitar that has travelled 25000 km’s with him, and now there is no excuse ..
