Max Doesn't really want to work out tonight that much.

Presently in the high to mid 50s 4 months ago

Depending on where I test and the material and the state I’m in and just random fluctuations. I’ve gotten a high of 67 once, but 60 or over is still a 1 in 4 chance at best.

I’ve been working at this (albeit not committing as much time as I should) for several years. A better time commitment should help, but I think I may have some mild apraxia. Not getting enough sleep and not having a proper keyboard at home doesn’t help (hate laptop keyboards). Ah well, no use crying about things. I’ve actually been putting off some practice to write this. Back to the grindstone…

I can’t seem to find my learn to type software, but I did find a website where you can practice. So far, I am up to 63 wpm. I’m getting close!

Mavis Beacon 16 months ago

I took two typing classes years ago and can actually type around 50 wpm. But I think it would be so fun to actually be able to type faster. I bought some Mavis Beacon Software and am going to practice with that.

Worth doing! 17 months ago

I type on average at about 105 WPM… I’d definitely recommend it! It’s such a great, vain feeling to see yourself typing so fast, I feel like a secretary. ;)

I did it ^^ 21 months ago

I tried a test for the third time and got 81 words per minute.

Let me try to get the result again…

Yeah!!!! 21 months ago

So happy….so so so happy. I have been stuck at 43 words a minute for weeks and did not seem to progress at all. But last night I did two speed tests and I am at 50 words a minute. I really feel like I might be able to make it to my goal now.

YEEE HAAAAA

Just done a speed test and I was 43 words a minute. Seem to be stuck at around this speed for the last few weeks but my accuracy has improved.

How to type fast. 22 months ago

I’ve just spent so long on the internet that I can do it; I haven’t even tried. But when I took a typing test last year—the professional secretary kind, the sort that let you type paragraphs in MS Word, and let you backspace over your mistakes, knowing that doing so takes time but that nonetheless you’ll produce correct typing in the end—I tested out at 93 WPM.

My advice to those who want to do it: talk on the computer often. Or, if you don’t have anyone you want to talk to that much, keep a journal—and just basically keep saying things in text. Say things and say things and say things. Don’t worry about them being good, if it’s just a journal for the sake of typing; talk about what you had for lunch and whether you liked it; the point is just to keep outputting coherent words. Just keep typing and babbling and saying things. Get distracted so you don’t think of it as typing practice, but just as you keeping a little diary of stuff. If you want to babble about hating your co-workers and don’t want anyone to find it, then keep a text file on your own computer. Just talk. Look how much I’ve talked in the past few minutes! There doesn’t have to be a reason if all you want is to type.
