to go out back and water my cherry tomatoes and check on my basil.

I am stoked for when I have a real garden.

    I want to plant:

    tomatoes
    herbs (basil, parsley, cilantro, mint)
    greens (spinach, kale, collards, etc)
    onions
    garlic
    carrots
    radishes
    beets
    chives
    squash (?)
    brussels sprouts
    sunflowers

If I have a garden with half the things on this list, I’ll call this goal complete.

    in my back yard!

    Not a garden proper, but it’s a start. :)

There are lots of ways 17 months ago

that I can see myself approaching this goal.

First, I’m subscribed to the Seattle “Food not lawns” mailing list. I can get involved in their activities.

Second, I applied for a “P patch” this spring with Seattle Tilth. The wait period is roughly 1 year.

Thirdly, I can “guerilla garden” on my own, or just plant in my landlord’s backyard (she said she didn’t mind).

Fourthly (and lastly), my co-worker Michelle has a background in horticulture and she says she can help me start a garden.

Really, there is no reason why this goal shouldn’t go into effect some time very soon. :)
