hmmm finished the book, its more like a story book. not thought provoking enough for me.
I liked the “blank spaces” funda she talks about, how everyone is trying to fill the blank spaces in their lives by being busy.
so true, my parents, inlaws, they are like that. they HAVE to be busy.
me!! me – chilled out soul!! ( though some people call me lazy) I let my ego take a lil trip to Nth floor with this one :-D :-D 3 years ago
I picked up witch of portebelo! tho paulo coelho is closer to romance /novel/ fiction genre than philosophy ( at least I dont think he is serious philosophy) He gives a lot of pointers towards sprituality and makes you think on those lines.
he mentiones dance meditation in this book. I ve been meaning to try dance meditation since a long time ( my mum really loves dance meditation. I admire the her a lot, Most Indian ladies her age wouldnt ever be open minded enough to try this )
just when u think u are taking a break… u start off on the goal! long live Murphy!!!! 3 years ago
I am giving a break to philosophy. may be another 2 weeks or untill I figure out what to read next.( I have ekhart’s book in the pipe line) Sophies world was heavy, evn tho it was meant for teenagers.
Osho didnt impress me much. too much criticism for some one who is enlightened. He advocates communes and contradicts himself every chapter! hmmm he’s not for me. 3 years ago
finally finishing off, sophies world! Its a nice book, to get an overview of western philosophy.
after this, I am keen to jump into eastern philosophy. Its really really old, all 3000 BC stuff and its still so cool!
and then Kaballah and sufism. 3 years ago
Got a book of osho, yet to get a hang of it. need to read mroe to actually comment on him.
I like power of now, easy to follow and fits with what i have always been thinking.
I have a feeling all philosophies finally say the same thing anyway… 3 years ago
I moved this to done, I think i am firmly in the path of studying philosophy, I will track my progress here, but it’s not on the yet to be list anymore! 3 years ago
power of now ! It’s nice!

I think now I am getting somewhat into Philosophy!

reading vivekanada’s book, but proceeding very slowly , few pages at a time.
I dont seem to agree with the first chapter atleast. :)
Have read autobiography of a Yogi, gave me insight into hindu philosophy. It’s cool! :) but that I read more like a story rahter than like .. philosophy :) 4 years ago
www.ascentofhumanity.com = This book/website is such an amazing an progressive look on everything from why people treat each the way they do to how we can survive after peak oil and building bridges back to our humanity. I took this man’s class in college a couple of years ago and it changed my life. You start to look at common situations you run across differently and understand major concepts in our reality better. I’ve read Deepak Chopra and his stuff is grade school material compared to some of this author’s ideas….... A must read for any modern philosopher. 4 years ago
Who hasn’t done it, but why stop? Never too late to do it more (philosophize, that is :). 4 years ago
Deep thoughts are great – I think being philosophical is just a part of me – not a goal 5 years ago
there is nothing better than sitting around and talking about life – the meaning to it – or even if we are all we think we are. I love the fact that there are popular phil books out now. but I think that philosophy has also let us down. There is a great divide between those who go to church and those who do not – I think that this is where philosophy should do more – i mean if people are not believing in God what reason do they have to be good? there is nothing out there giving them any morals or reasons to act in a responsible way.
Any one have any thoughts or comments? 5 years ago
