Off to uni on saturday to study Philosophy… don’t know whether that will make me a philosopher though ;)
How I did it: I read volumniously, wrote extensively, debated, reflected, and downloaded copious podcasts on the subject. I studied up on my Kant, Hegel, Plato, Aristotle, Socrates, Nietzsche, Rousseau, Locke, Rand, Descartes, Bacon, Hume, and Molyneux. Philosophy is the all-science about the nature of mankind. It is both descriptive and prescriptive. Philosophers do not merely absorb their ideas from the culture, but rather, reason them out from first principles.
Lessons & tips: We all have the capacity to be philosophers; some of us just don't know it yet.

this is something i can say i already have achieved i think openly and come to conclusions about everything myself sometimes using other peoples contributions as factors and my own background knowledge (Philosophy is the discipline concerned with questions of how one should live ethics; what sorts of things exist and what are their essential natures metaphysics; what counts as genuine knowledge epistemology; and what are the correct principles of reasoning logic
actually. you should never be pleased with your findings. it makes you get comfortable. and the thing with philosophy is that you never should.=] its a constantly changing chameleon.=] i love philosophy with all my heart and recommend it to all who even get the slightest feeling of becoming a philosopher. it is something that you can never finish….in this lifetime anyway.=] according to the philosopher Hegel, the world has a spirit in its people and culture, and the world spirit reaches its highest form of self-realization throught art, religion, and philosophy. Philosophy being the highest simply because the world spirit reflects on its doings in history, and first meets itself personally in history.
i am currently teaching 2 others for philosophy and really want to speak to someone who can teach me.=] so whoever wishes to go ahead!
First, I’d like to start by recommending the book ‘To think like God’. I can’t remember who it’s by, but it is a very good book from what I’ve read.
I suppose I’ll give some tips.
1. Never examine things from a limited standpoint, philosophy is based around logic, if you let emotion and morality get in the way, everything you say will have a bias.
2. Always avoid having a bias, when something is bias, it favors one side, which makes it untrue since balance is the foundation of existence and truth.
3. Interpret things. If everything is taken in complete literality, you will never learn the deeper wisdom behind what it is you attempt to interpret. Also, if nothing is interpreted literally, you will overlook the obvious.
4. Ask why. Even when you come to a conclusion, always ask why.
5. Be pleased with your findings and go deeper. Learning to congradulate yourself for every step can become critical to the veteran philosopher
6. Never stop learning, if you get the desire to learn something, learn it, don’t think twice with pursuing goals of knowledge. Without knowledge and wisdom, people are empty shells – slaves to their own humanity.
7. Take the time to examine human nature. If you know nothing of yourself, then it is impossible to know of other things, however, this does not mean you must embrace all of human nature. Embrace what is good and reform what is not. Allow yourself to attain grace.
If anyone would like to have a philosophical conversation with me, my AIM is Smartassbandit47

From what I’ve seen of philosophers, the job pretty much entails sitting around in a bathrobe all day and thinking. Heck, that’s my ideal lifestyle. I’ll do this soon.
This title is one sentence made by Descates, a philosopher. It’s in Latin and that mean: I think so I exist. THat means people who don’t think about important think don’t are someone. I think if I become a philosopher, I’ll be remember during thousand of years. I think is mportant to think and analyse our existence and our origins.
first i wanna finish my BA and masters in phlosophy, then i wanna get a phd in philo from some great uni…hopefully i’ll become a professor and ppl will call me Dr. Dana lol :p
Follow every idea that occurs to you to the end. Don’t be tolerant with your self be critical of every judgement you make. Realize that there is no final answer. Have all your small pet theories writen down. Don’t be shy to express your unconventionalities to the public, after all one of the points of philosophy is to break the molds into which we have stuck. Always think about the way you think, because the way you think will always prove to be wrong when you discover the nex realm. Read a lot, no one is smart enough to become a fully fledged philodopher without borrowing from the rest. Make sure to insemnate yourself with mixture of strong logical ability but never ever dismiss spirituality and the unexplained.
Learn a number of languages.
“Know Thyself” One of socrates most famous quotes, but all he said he knew is that he knew nothing, that is who my role model is. I want to become a philosopher so that i can know as much as i can possibly know, but remember it all starts within yourself.
