A week of happiness 22 months ago

I brought my grandma to my mom’s house for Christmas so we could all spend the holiday together. She was so happy all week. We’ve been spending much more time together, so I’m going to call this goal accomplished, but never finished.

My Most Meaningful Goal 2 years ago

I’m so, so glad I made this goal. I didn’t visit her as much as I would have liked, but I visited her more than I would have otherwise. She died in June, and I was the only one there with her when he went. Whenever she saw her grandchildren, she’s be so happy, and I’m glad I gave that happiness in the time when she was here.

So, whoever’s reading this, visit your grandparents. Take advantage of all the time you have together. It’s definitely worth it. <3

Apparently Grandma was calling repetitively today, asking if I could come over tonight to eat dinner with her. I think now that I’ve come off interested in visiting her, she wants me to come over a lot. I didn’t know she’d called until 10 minutes ago. I hope she’s not disapointed. I’ll call her tomorrow to see what’s up.

Hey! I’m not the only one with this goal. Cool.

Since I’ve got my license now, I’m going to try to see her at least once a week. No one visits her at all, and she only see people during Sunday dinner. It’s not fair. She’s 87 and lonely, with a family all around her, but who don’t even visit her.

I ate dinner at her house today. You can tell how happy she is to have company. She’s so sweet.

My grandma is an amazing lady, and now I’m older, I’ve realised alot of the stuff that my family considers irritating has a cause, and she’s actually a survivor of alot of tough stuff. She’s my fave family member, by far, and one of my favourite people in the world!!

Its pathetic! 3 years ago

The fact that she lives in our converted garage RIGHT NEXT TO THE HOUSE and I only go and see her probably like every 10 days! She’s agraphobic and can’t leave her apartment so the only way we see each other is if I make the effort. I know I will regret not doing this later in life.

Slowly, but surely... 3 years ago

I spoke to my grandmother for about half an hour today. It felt so nice just talking to her, and telling her about what’s been going on in my life lately. Work dominates most of my life so it is so hard to make time to see her, but if I can at least try and call her everyday or every other day I know our relationship wouldn’t be so strained. I love my grandmother so much. She is really like a second mother to me in the fact that she raised me. I really have to start taking steps to become closer to her, and to show her how much I love and care for her.

My ‘baba’ just turned 94 this week. Unbelievable. Yes, she has slowed down a tad since her 80’s, but is unstoppable. I feel so fortunate to have a close relationship with her. I enjoy every moment I spend with her (though, I have to admit it doesn’t happen as often as I wish it could) I cherish deeply. I admire her wisdom, her wit and also the silent moments we share.

I’ve learned that I actually was doing a pretty good job on this. I just spent the last day with Grandma, in the hospital, and I am always there when she needs me. When she’s doing well, I visit her less and attend to other things, which makes it easier for me to attend to her when she needs me. I hope that I am able to be there to help her for some time yet.
