Gwen171Made 1 new friend

One through Church
Met her family and sister in law. It takes time to build friendships. I am also focussing on connecting with old friends and checking in with them. 3 weeks ago

SpatzNo real progress

It seems I spent a lot of time being sick, getting better, getting sick again and healing. And dealing with toxic people and long work hours.

But finally, I’m getting better and spring is here, so I need to kick myself and do something instead of dream about it.

I met an old former friend today and it just made me realize the importance of this goal more.

So: Action! 2 months ago

SpatzFind new friends

Hm. It seems a lot of my “old friends” are work friends and I’d like to get to know more people outside of work.

So, wembleyheads had this great list of possibilities to get to know new friends and I’ll use that list as a cheat sheet:

  • Find an organization where you’d like to volunteer. Search sites like volunteer.gov or volunteermatch.org for ideas.
I’ll have to check if something like that exists here in Europe. Not that I’d ever heard of it, but hey, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Perhaps?
  • Join a group that does activities you like. Try meetup.com or look in the community section of your local paper.
I tried meetup.com, but that’s a dead end here. I’ve yet to see a community section in our local paper, but I’ll keep my eye open for such things!
  • Go to events you like and strike up a conversation.
That’s something that just might work. Hm. I’ll have to give that more thought!
  • Take a class.
Weeeel, yoga proved to be not that great here. Perhaps something less introversive might be better here? I’ve got a new course catalogue, so I’ll check that!
  • Organize a 43things meetup in your town.
I’m afraid that would be a lonely meetup. But then, hey, you never know!
  • Think of things you love to do, and create opportunities to do them. When you are doing things you love, your personality shines.
And that’s something to think about. What do I love to do?
  • If you are an alumni of a school or group, see if there is a branch or alumni group in your new town.
No, I’m afraid. Such things are unheard of around here.
  • If you are religious/spiritual, find a faith community you enjoy, and attend their events outside of worship time.
Those events are are mostly for the 75+ crowd. But then, I’ll have to be on the lookout here!

So: a lot of things to think about. And check up. And google. 4 months ago

tanisharhianShyness

I have become so shy when first meeting people. And then once I’m comfortable with them it’s a complete 180 turn around lol. I’m loud, humorous and outgoing.

How can I change and be like that when I first meet people. Meeting and making more friends would be so much easier. 5 months ago

Emilie BealeFew and far between

As I get older it becomes more and more difficult to ‘make new friends’. I’m not the type to have loads of friends as I prefer one or two friendships that have depth.
I am an ISTJ according to Meyers-Briggs whom apparently prefer to be friendless rather than jobless. I’m doomed! :(
Effort is needed I think. 7 months ago

I feel alone. The people i have become friends with have come and gone, have been there for me, but then have turned. I have friends that only want to hang out with me when they want something they know I can give them. If i could just meet one best friend, I would be worlds happier. 10 months ago
