Become a songwriter

i love to write i just wanna get better have alot of songs started just never finish

I’ve completely written 4 or 5 (something like that) songs already. One about Halloween, one about cake, one about being a zombie, one about not being in love, and at least one more. But the problem is, there are times, sometimes at random, sometimes when I’m around art, quite often in the shower, a song hits me and I have to record or write it down immediately or I lose it (preferably record because writing takes too long and pieces get forgotten while I’m doing it). It’s like completely original songs pass through my head (mostly via improvisation) but only make one pass. they just go straight in and out and I have to catch them before they’re completely gone.

Things get REALLY difficult when I only catch pieces of them and have to fill in the rest, or if I have a chord progression down with no lyrics, or lyrics with no music, or just a melody. the hardest part is lyrics with no music, because it’s (relatively) easy to just let my mind go to music but not to take words and put music to them.

I guess, in a sense, I’m not writing songs, I’m just catching free floating ones and I’d kind of like to use this 43things thing to try and cultivate the creativity required to fill in the missing pieces/make sure my lyrics don’t suck.

I help write songs for my band, and I’m getting pretty good at melodic riffs and stuff.

But I want to get into lyrics, that’s the hard part.

I kinda want lyrics that can do anything from make people laugh, to make them think about the path their lives are on. Have it both serious and… well, not.

I’ve set my sights on going to berklee for a double major, performance and songwriting. I know thats five more years of school but its worth it.

i want to become a songwriter/performer. i enjoy writing for other ppl and myself. i really wanna break into the industry by doing this….im wondering if there are any tips out there that can help me out

I would like to know about becoming a songwriter, I used to write years ago and I have been trying to figure out what it is in my life that I need to be doing and writing came back into play.

what i think about becoming a song writer is that i love to write songs for my cusin and she can sing very well and her boyfriend can sing so i wrote them this song and it might get published in a week or two im so happy but anyway i would love for the world to hear my songs and get to kno me a lil better!!!

ive been writing sonce i was about 8-9 and i have wrote loads of songs … but some are private coz they are about my feeling and people i know

but my other songs i wouldnt mind showing people
i would love to become a songwriter/singer

but i dont think i have a strong enough voice but i neva no =]
