I have read through the postings about moving to the State of Georgia for various reasons. I live in Coastal Georgia, where I have resided for the majority of my life. My family and family members live in various other places through out this great nation. Literally, stretching from Key West, Fl, to NYC all the way to California, with several cousins and close friends in the service now stationed in Hawaii.
I love home. I live in a small town, Darien. Which is centrally located North of Jacksonville, Fl. and South of Savannah, Ga. We have the best of some many things in this area that the average person may take for granted. While our climate is usually warm and consider sub-tropical, our winters are a little nippy. However, in the past twenty something years we have not experienced snow. No direct hurricanes either. We do from time to time suffer wind damage and this past year local coastal areas took a bout with a tornado.
However, overall its great on the weather spectrum! We are located with 45 minutes to an hr drive in either directions of “bigger” cities. International Airports, and much more. Living here on the coast, we have beaches, fresh and salt water. Outdoor activities are endless.
I am also a REALTOR, licensed with a local company in this area. I would be glad to fill any of you in with additional information and added benefits to this area. If anything, its worth a trip to check it out.

I lived in Missouri All my life and want to make a change. I have 2 teenage daughters. I’m 40 yrs old. I am a licensed cosmetologist, and have my instructors license. I also have my cdl license.
What is a decent city in Georgia that I can move to for a change and not struggle like I have done here all my life .I have a friend there in Decatur, and moving to Clayton county can any one help me and my daughters, make a different life for us.
I am so ready to move out of this money hungry, high cost living, state that I am in and get to a place where I can breathe and live! I know that my heart is set on Georgia, I just don’t know what part. It has been a desire of mine for 2 years now. Two of my teacher colleagues have moved to Georgia and both say that it was the best decision they ever made. One of them just had a house built for $145k where it would cost $400k here for the same.
I know that I need to save up some money and make a few visits to see what county I like, but I was hoping to get a little help from anyone who can point me in the right direction. I know that I want to live close to the city but far enough away to have some peace and quiet. I don’t mind traveling about an hour or so to the city. I’m definitely a city born girl, but can go for a little change. I need some space between my house and the neighbors (aka they dont hear me everytime I sneeze). The houses here are about 3 to 6 feet apart. I NEED SOME SPACE. lol
I am a licensed teacher of 10years and hold my supervisors and prinicpals certificates. I have two small children and want very much for them to attend a good school system. Does anyone know where I may start looking? I want to move by the end of the school year 2009. If I find a school district to hire me before then, IM OUT OF HERE!
Hi folks,
I’ ve also lived in,”Majami”,far too long,so I feel ya. I’ve contemplated the move as well. This pretentious place, “Miami”, has ignorant, racist, rude, uncaring, insensitive people whose goal is to sour up your day and in-your-face ghetto attitude for EVERYTHING. You all know what I mean. I have traveled to Georgia and loved it! The Fall is gorgeous, the winters can be a bit sharp but never as brutal as New York or New Jersey winters. Summer….well like anywhere, right? Florida is the same everywhere you go. Folks are more human out of Dade and Broward counties; however, the terrain and weather remains the same throughout the peninsula. Hot and humid year-round, tired of it. I’ve been ready to get out of the land of the lost. Now, what county in GA is what I’m trying to decide on. I work in Healthcare, so God willing I may secure something up in GA. God bless you all and hope to hear about your progress!!!
atlanta should secede, as it’s essentially choked of all funding from the state government by the georgia general assembly. if you move to georgia, prepare to feel judged – despite the surge of outsiders moving in, it is still the seat of the bible belt, and second to alabama for the most conservative state.
if you’re a democrat, atlanta is filled with like-minded individuals, but don’t expect any help from the state for funding as far as city-projects – atlanta is starved from state-aid, unlike every other major metropolitan area in the country which recieves state aid. this is one of the main reasons atlanta’s transit network is absolutely awful. 5,000,000 people live in the metro area, and only about 400,000 have access to adequate public transit.
think about that – some of the worst gridlock in the entire country. I’m moving away, in about 30 days actually, be careful – I wouldn’t move here if I’d had the choice again.

The Journey begins..
We are sending $2400 a month towards debt and about $300 towards savings. We should be out of CC debt in November. I also plan on having a small SL debt paid off by July. Then we will start saving $2500 a month for atleast 3 months. Once we’ve got $10k in the bank and find the house of our dreams… We are off to GA!

I live in sunny, rude South Florida and I am so ready to get out! I just had a friend move to Acworth, GA and she loves it. Not only did she move but her mom, dad and 2 older sisters along with there families all moved up there last year. I am ready to make the move because I can’t stand it here any longer…
