"The lights just shown so brightly, and to see most of our neighborhood come out at once at 2 in the morning to watch this.... just made me feel close to everyone."

How I did it: I lived in Alaska for seven years over a 17 year experience, and got to see the lights several times. They never got old, and the colors never were the same.

Lessons & tips: They can appear anytime, it's not just a "oh hi there". Don't be dissapointed if you don't see them, they hide... a lot.

    I am so fascinated by these! I grew up in the coastal S.E. united states. I always dreamed of getting out and seeing this wonder in alaska. here i am living 30 minutes south of seattle feeling so close!! i’m gonna do it before august 2008!!

    How amazing a place a to live in when you look at a canvas that is the sky that produces the shows that just takes your breath away with colours and patterns that no artist can possibly recreate. Wow!

    i saw a television program that showcased the worlds best natural wonders and this was on it. apparently, alaska is one of the best places to see them because they are more clear and vibrant near the poles. i don’t know when i’ll be able to go to alaska but this definitely gets put on my top 43.
