It was 20 years ago … (holy cow!)
A book called “A Book of Photographs from Lonesome Dove” came across my desk today, and brought with it some great memories.
Back in the late ‘80s I flew out to Santa Fe to visit my brother, and he took me to visit the set of “Lonesome Dove”. I went with a loaded camera, but felt kinda tentative. After all, this was basically a Hollywood production with A-list stars, and we were not totally invited guests. I got over that after a while, though :-) , and took some neat pix. I saw Anjelica Huston, Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Duvall, Diane Lane, and made pictures of several of them.
The whole of that trip, though, was pretty neat. Santa Fe and northern New Mexico are beautiful, and the experience of being on an actual movie set with movie stars and cowboys (wearing real spurs) was truly amazing.
