It took longer than I expected but I think it was for the good. I think the tag structure works a lot better than bookmarks, not to mention because it is only I can now access my bookmarks from any computer and export it as an HTML file for backup.

It seems as if every few months I need to once again set out and organize or should I say purge my internet bookmarks from how quickly they seem to get out of control. And looking at my current mess in Firefox I see that the vast majority of the bookmarks were quick temporary things that have outlasted their usefulness. Unfortunately there are enough useful repeat visit materials mixed into the mess that it needs to be sorted through to ensure that nothing valuable gets purged by mistake. The plan is to have a two level bookmark system where Google bookmarks will hold the important stuff that I care about when Firebox will store the shorter term bookmarks that I don’t want to hold onto long term. So in theory as long as I keep up the system once I start I should be able to blindly purge Firefox every few weeks to months without losing anything important by keeping the important bookmarks elsewhere.
