Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Jacqueline2uI need help with my yard

I am a single woman who bought a beautiful home that had not been lived in for three years. The yard could be amazing (I am undergoing radiation treatment for breast cancer) but the yard is overgrown. It is made up of perennials and trees. It is large with a great covered patio in back and a wrap around “smoking porch” in front.
Since I am in the Seattle area, I want to make the most of the outdoor covered areas. I would love an outdoor dining and lounge area. The yard has a lot of natural covered arches that could be amazing. I need help to make this into the yard of my dreams. Can you help? 17 months ago

Melissa_PruntyGreat yard, seeking serenity (and Jamie's design)!

We have updated most of the interior of our house but we are now in desperate need of an outdoor makeover. It is a large sized, gated piece of property. We would like to add more privacy, create a spectacular patio, lush plantings and garden areas. We watch your show constantly (our kids love it also) and we are looking to have that over the top look for our backyard that only you are capable of providing! 20 months ago

sburmoodNeed Help with our Yard!

My husband is in charge of taking care of the yard. However, he’s been working 6-7days a week for 4 months now, plus he’s just started into his traveling season at work which doesn’t leave much time for the yard. Our new puppy has dug holes in our lawn, a lawn pest is killing the grass…..and our list of endless “projects” just continues to grow. I’d like to surprise my husband by giving him the yard of his dreams, and show him how much we love him. He’s working so hard, feeling like he’s just providing us with paychecks…...he deserves an emotional boost and I thought it would be great for him to have a serene yard to come home to! 2 years ago

kirstenhoneyOne awesome couple with wonderful dreams!!!!

My son Dean and Jill my daughter in law are an awesome couple however they are way over there heads with an incredible piece of property they have. These two people are in an over committed life coaching Pole vault and teaching horse back riding to an incredible base of kids. They have no time for themselves since my son also has a full time job. The property has great bones but needs a serious facelift both front and back. They have a wall of lights in the front that don’t work. A gate that does not work. A huge fireplace thing in the front and no landscaping, just a few trees and a huge cactus. THe back has a huge pool (that works), gazebo and lame landscaping. THe barn where people sit to watch their kids train is made of hay stacks and old chairs. The training room although huge has good equipment but needs a lot of help. Their pole vault pit os ok. They have a huge main entrance to the house but the pane glass is so old it’s dusty between the panes making it impossible to clean. They are on such budget crunch and had no time for improvements although I see Dean spend all his spare time trying to improve the place…..This is a perfect couple for a front and back yard, barn and training room makeover. They spend so much time coaching and teaching and are so well loved by everyone (google Dean Starkey, Jill Starkey Wittenwyler)...... this couple could REALLY use your help…....My dream is to see the property come to it’s potential which will ad comfort for the students and great presentation for what they do….The ranch also has a colorful history. Can you help?? 2 years ago

amanda_finucaneBackyard Bliss

I would love to be the proud owner of an Outdoor Room courtesy of Jamie Durie. Somewhere my son and I can call our own for mummy/son time and also be warm and inviting for those I care about the most. Living a hectic lifestyle as a single mum working full time with a 2 year old, I love having my family and friends over to enjoy “carefree & unwind” time. Unfortunately my backyard retreat is nothing more then a concrete slab and hardly welcoming.. Looking at Jamie’s creations are inspiring… it would really create a space and make our house a home, something I just don’t know how to do myself! 3 years ago

Isabel2011House in the desert - Tucson Arizona

Hi, I am looking for a huge miracle. My wish is for Jamie and his amazing team to come beautify our backdoor living space. My husband and I live on an acre of land, with our dog Sammy, overlooking the majestic Catalina Mountains in Tucson. We moved into our home a year ago and have gutted and upgraded the inside of our home. We would love to have a backyard that matches the inside: bautiful, peaceful and colorful.

We have an old pool that works very well still but are at a loss about what to do that will make our living space feel like an oasis to welcome our family and friends while respecting our desert surroundings. Picture attached to give you a better idea of the challenge we face and also of the beautiful view of the mountains. 3 years ago

Hi Jamie, Watching your show just makes me dream of the possibilities that could happen in my boring back yard. I love my flower gardens I,ve put in , which is where I spend my time. In looking out from the deck it still looks BORING!!!All I have is LOTS OF GRASS (which takes time to mow) with flowers around the edges. GET RID OF THE GRASS FOR ME!!!!!!!! Give my yard some character and interest, please? 3 years ago
