I’d say it was worth it one time when I walked in the rain with a guy (this was about a year ago) and stopped to kiss him sometimes (kissing in the rain was worth it!). Even though that night I got soaked in the rain, and didn’t have a change of clothes (but hey, I managed). It’s mostly not worth it, but then when you get dry and out of wet clothes it’s not so bad always.

I love the rain. They said it always rains in England, but I was sorely dissapointed. It’s more of a mist, and it’s not “always”. Summers where I live get pretty hot. I’ve been wanting it to rain for a while now. I mean properly RAIN. As in downpour. As in, you step foot outside for more than three seconds and you’re soaked. The last time I’ve experienced that was when I was in Florida about 3 years ago.

I was sixteen. We were wandering around the city on a steamy summer afternoon. We went to the market and bought huge, scarlet-and-gold mangoes for a dollar each and ate them like over-sized apples, pulling the skin off with our teeth. Between the market and the train station the skies opened and we were caught with no shelter in sight. Only after we were well and truly soaked did we find a crowded bus shelter to bundle into. I fell in love.

It was pretty cold, and when it started to drizzle I had to make the decision to keep going. I figured “Fuck it” and rode on through. Then it started to pour. I was soaked through my underwear. The water was whipping off the wheels; my glasses were streaming with droplets; and suddenly I became so giddy I felt like shouting. So I did! It was great fun. I’m not sure this is the type of thing you go out of your way to do… has to be serendipitous. Still, I want to do it again.

we forget that rain isnt going to hurt us. i mean if you’re on your way to an important job interview in your nice clothes obviously you are gonna run for cover. but coming back from a party at 2am, why not let the rain wash over you? you’re drunk off your ass anyway. you know you can pass out soaking wet once you get to your apt.
just do it!

in a microclimate far, far away…
when I was in high school, it used to rain for something like 9 months out of the year. The rest of the time it was foggy as thick as pea soup.
We had to walk to school in this every day.
So I pretty much lived getting completely soaked to the bone growing up.
In high school, we realized, our first period teacher would take pity on us and send us home to change so we wouldn’t catch pneumonia. Of course, we never made it back to school…
:D

I was changing the marquee at the movie theatre and saw the storm clouds rolling in. I was racing to get it changed before the rains came, and was successful. I had walked to work though and debated about hanging out until it was over. We turned on the weather channel though and it was a big front that looked like it was going to go on for hours.
I knew I wouldn’t melt, so I headed out in the downpour and enjoyed my stroll through the rain. By the time I got home my shirt was completely soaked, my jeans were too. I actually was wringing them out and it was like water coming out of a faucet.
I’d definitely do this again.
