aswedishlime is for once looking ahead to a bright new year!
Got a few more things checked off the list!
My driver’s license arrived, I sent off for my new passport, J and I got new credit cards for both of us (all that second account holder business)...
Still have to:
1. Go back to DMV for new title and registration.
2. Send copy to the bank where I have my IRA.
3. Change at health insurance company.
4. Change at dental insurance company.
5. Change it on the deed I have to land I bought a couple years ago in WI.
I always miss one. Somedays I don’t think this will ever get done…sigh…

But I have to go back to a titling DMV for my car registration and title…
My checks arrived the other day, and look beautiful! OK, OK, they’re just checks, but technically they’re the first thing since personal letters that have my new name printed! My ID card should arrive next week, and my Social Security card should be here any day.
Steps left:
1. DMV for title and registration.
2. Credit cards.
3. Work.
4. My investment bank.
I think? that’s it!
Edit: Poop! Just looked at the old list and was reminded of that darn passport and my health insurance carrier…

I went to Social Security on Thursday, and began the process! Phew!
(And it was nearly as awful as I imagined…I found the building, wound my way through a mile of hallways to a room overflowing with people, and an intercom system where you could barely hear what number they were calling…then every kid who was there started screaming, parents got flustered, and old men were getting irritated that they weren’t being seen yet…then when I was called, I had to wind my way through another set of hallways to the most isolated part of the building…strange times.)
But, that part is over, and I will receive my new card in the mail in two weeks!
I also stopped in my bank to order new checks in my new name, since I am so close to having a picture ID matching that new name…
Next steps:
1. The dreaded DMV for a new license, title, and registration…oyy. If I’m adventurous, I will do this Monday.
2. A new passport, which should be free, since I had just renewed it for the honeymoon.
3. Getting my name changed on my credit cards.
4. Changing my name at work and on my W-4.
5. Changing it with my health insurance carrier.
6. Figuring out where else I’ll need to change it…
