never get a tattoo

Yeah, I’ve seen some on other people that I really like (very rarely though). But then I think, “That would so not look good on me.” I’ve decided I’m just not the kind of person that would wear one well.

My friend and I started drawing them on years ago before the were in fashion. And then they came out with they cool temp ones like we used to get in the Cracker Jacker boxes. I let my kids put on the temp ones and they know I do not like the perm ones.

Getting a tattoo just hasn’t been very high on the list of things I want to do in my life, especially given the difficulty of removal.
Other deterrents include an aversion to pointy objects and my perpetually dry skin.

It doesn’t bother me if other people get them.

When I was a teen, I wanted to pierce my nose, but piercings in those days weren’t so common, so it never happened. And golly, I must be one of the few women out there without pierced ears.

I like my body the way it is. It’s fun decorating it from time to time, drawing and painting on it, but I see no reason to do something permanent to it that is painful.

... it will not be difficult to keep this goal day after day for the rest of my life, so I’ll consider this goal as done. I never would hurt myself or let someone else destroy my skin with ugly scars called tattoo.

Who will be the same person as (s)he is now in ten years? He will consider different things to be meaningfull than today – but (s)he’ll run around with the same childish tattoos (s)he got 10 years ago…

I always thought “well, i’ll get a tattoo when i think of something meaningful.” People are always trying to pressure you to get one, saying you have to get one, because it’s right for them or what they like. I thought about it long and hard, and I decided if i got one it would be of Kori, one of my best friends who had died. But, I don’t need a tattoo on me to remind me of her. There will never be anything more meaningful in the world to me, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t want one. I don’t think they’re cool, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen one I really liked, dispite what I’ve told the people who’s ive seen. It’s not for me and the pressure to get one from other people is pretty annoying.

So why bother with a tatoo? I already have scars and they won’t go away, why add something else into the “won’t go away” mix? I say “no” to the tatoo, for myself. For others, please, get as many as you want and enjoy them!

But I still want one…

Strange how I used to immerse myself in an alt culture where tattoos were considered subversive, yet never got one myself. Now it’s so common. Kinda proud that I don’t have one.
