I graduated in October 2008 with my BSN. :)
How to get my BSN.
How I did it: I choose to do the RN to BSN online through Chamberlain College of Nursing. I went full time some semesters and part time some semesters. David, my admission coordinator, walked me completely through the admissions process and initial enrollment. The academic advisors were wonderful and assisted me with every step once I was in enrolled, all the way through to graduation.
Lessons & tips: It takes a lot of time. Make sure you have it before you start. I didn't get to sleep much, or spend much time with my family. I had to decrease my work load down to 3 days per week, 12 hours per day.
Resources: my family was incredibly supportive

I would graduate in December except I need a religion class, so I’ll take that in the spring and finish in May. Woohoo!!
Now to just not screw up the 3 classes I am in now.
ROjunkie reading in the sunshine at the park with a vivace iced coffee.
I’m considering an online program… time is too valuable for me to let someone or some program dictate my schedule. I need to be committed to it before I spend the money. Anyone out there have tips or information to share?
I’m currently in my Capstone Course for my BSN. One 3 hour class to go and I’ll graduate. :)
PixieRN_07 is feeling much better!:)
I need to get settled into my job and get my wedding over with before I can focus on this goal…..
jbranh01 work work work to accomplish these goals!
I’ve had some trouble in my personal life, but I’m forging ahead slowy, but I’m getting there. I can’t wait for this semester to be over with! Probability&Statistics and American Lit are not my favorite classes! I can’t wait to get more nursing geared classes!
I was so frustrated with RN school that it was hard to show back up for more, but it is turning out to be very different in a good way.
After much thought, and going back and forth between options, I finally started school this week.
Its costly, will have to take out some loans, but I feel in my heart it is the best choice!
I am attending North Park University in Chicago, RN-BSN program.
Good luck to everyone else!
i was originally planning on going to college this fall to pursue my love of history and art, to get a degree in historical preservation.
i’ve been thinking and praying though, and i feel like helping people is what i should be doing. in the end, success means nothing, only what i’ve done for others.
i asked my mom (an RN) what i should do if i want to help others medically. she said a BSN would be appropriate because they focus more on public health.
in the end, i want to work with the homeless. even live with them. to understand the poor you must understand poverty. and you cannot understand poverty if you are at arm’s length of it.
i want to help the addicts, the aids victims, the hungry and dying. i figure getting a degree would be a resource i could use. compassion is somewhat useless without something to offer.
i did well in my advanced biology/anatomy class. hopefully i will be able to accomplish this goal in order to serve others and in turn serve my god.
any advice is appreciated. i’m 18 and not too well informed.
and I want to get my BSN, I am just soo tired of school. I lack the will power. But I am moving forward. Most of my application is in, I just need to fax my license and CLEP out of human growth and development. BTW, has anyone done that?
My hospital owns several hospitals, and has a nursing program in one of the hospitals. It has an RN to BSN (also an RN and a RN to MSN). If I work for that hospital and attend that school, most of it would be paid for. My hospital also has a halfway decent tuition repayment program.
