I’ve been a huge Tool fan for many years. I’ve seen hundreds of concerts, but have never managed to catch Tool live. I would love to see them.
How I did it: i've always wanted to see TOOL in concert, but they don't come around much anymore. they went on tour this summer and i knew i HAD to go. i live in california and the closest stop was in phoenix, so i asked a friend if he wanted to go on a lil trip to arizona. drove out to phoenix, rented a crappy hotel room, drank some beers and went to the venue in phoenix. the show was amazing, just as i expected. glad i got to go.
Lessons & tips: be prepared for an amazing show and lots of visuals.

Saw them at Ozzfest 02 in Ireland. Ozzy didnt play his headline slot so Tool took both his and their own set. Bloody fantastic.
The music is great, but they have zero stage presence and there is no performance or showmanship. Its about as good as listening to the album through a really good sound system. Most of the people who were really fired up and loving the show were highly entoxicated. For a sober, Tool fan, the show was lame. Maynard’s voice cracked about four times, he had his back to the audience the entire show and there was no encore. I’m glad they were free tickets.
I’ve seen them 3 times. All in Florida. The best show was at the Sunrise Musical Theater. Smaller venue than most so more intimate. Maynard was blue and wore nothing but a loin cloth type thing. I love love love Tool. I’ve also seen APC twice. I’m glad I got to see the original lineup…Paz, James Iha, etc…another great show.

Went with an awesome friend of mine. Great experience, amazing show, I would definitely go again.
i saw them twice in two days, sept 21 in columbus ohio (21st row center, floor) and sept 22 in auburn hils michigan (nosebleed section). (i live in lansing michigan) both concerts were outstanding and i’m glad i got to experience both being up close and being far back but actually being able to see over people’s heads. i cannot wait til they come back to my area again! i will DEFINITELY go see them as many more times as i can.
I’M GOING TO SEE TOOL IN SOUTH HAVEN, MS IN MARCH. THIS IS MY FIRST CONCERT. AND I WOULDN’T IMAGINE IT BEING ANY BETTER!
I was all set to go into the mosh pit yesterday but decided not to as I’d just gotten a fresh piercing, but they played a flawless set. Everyone should make an effort to see them at least once – twice if you live in Adelaide – Maynard said they’re coming back later this year.
