My whole body was sore after watching the movies in one sitting. Other than going to the bathroom I didn’t take any breaks. My back and my head were hurting like hell but it was worth it, a real experience. I’m definitely gonna do this again sometime – I love LOTR!

We watched the movie with a 3000 lumens Dell projector on a white wall at our office. We plugged the DVD player into a real stereo so we had great sound. It took exactly 11 hours and 30 minutes with very little time between DVD’s. I could do this again soon … Godfather anyone?
Last Friday, Mark, Randy, Don, Scott, Jacob, and me gathered in our office starting at 3PM for an extended edition marathon. We had plenty of beer and food, and finished around 2:45AM. It was AWESOME. It’s hard to believe that it really was almost 12 consecutive hours of movie watching. My only disappointment was that I dozed off for a few seconds and missed my favorite scene when Gollum falls into the lava of Mount Doom clutching the ring of power gleefully (so descriptive of humanity I think). If we ever do it again (and I’m persuaded that it would be fun to do again) we definitely should make some Middle Earth food. The pita chips were an OK facsimile of Lembas but it would’ve been much more fun to have an actual recipe ;)
I think next up we might do something like watch the Godfather trilogy.
As someone else said, sore butts are a given, but I’m not sorry I did it. What made it even better was that I was with a group of people, and we had fun making humorous comments throughout the viewing… though by the third installment we were definitely more subdued and just trying to stay upright.
Well worth watching all of them at least once in a liftime because these kind of movies only come along once in a lifetime.Just watch them you wont regret it.
In a warm-up for the LOTR-EE marathon, my roommate and I watched all 3 Matrix movies over the weekend. It’s a good warm up because although we did it over 2 days tne they’r emuch shorter, they’re not nearly as riveting (especially over 3 movies, some of which have little to no plot) and the acting… ugh, the acting.
LOTR, here we come. :)
but it would be so fun! I’ve seen all the EE’s multiple times, including all the commentary tracks on each (and yes, of course I own the trilogy.. even have the box-case thingie to hold all the DVDs together! Hee hee!) but I’d love to have a Trilogy Day with some friends.. get majorly comfortable on the couch, have lunch and dinner.. FUN!
Sometime soon. :)
I’m gonna buy the box set sometime sooooooon and the tentative marathon date is mid-May to celebrate exams ending… yay!!!
