I noticed something new… Along the lines of my previous “discovery.” Nice photos would be useful now. There are photos on the web, but I have not downloaded the relevant pieces.

When I want distraction from my dissertation, I look over the VMs.
It has some notes on it in Occitan.

but other people had noticed it before. Oh well. I think I made myself look like an idiot on the discussion list, but I had to see if others had noticed it. The problem is that, regarding VMs, the noise to signal ratio is so high, that it presents difficulty.

That’s what my Danish officemate said when I showed him the Voynich Manuscript. I estimate it would take me three years of solid effort. Needless to say, this is a long term goal. I have several good ideas about what are known, invariable elements. I subscribed to a list-serv discussion about this text, but I have been a bit amused by the wide-range of discussion. I am not expert at encryption, but I think some of the techniques I have used to “decrypt” other texts could be useful here. Even if I could produce a viable result, but with all the weird efforts out there, that could be difficult.
