Which is let me be in two places at once! I’m busy, but not totally busy, and yet it seems that everything I want to do is at the same time as another thing that I want to do! I really have to keep checking my calendar to make sure I don’t double book!
I went through my commitments for the next couple of weeks. Basically, there are too many things that I want to do! Especially if I want to get to the gym three nights this week…
It was an impulse buy, although I had thought about getting one before. I was in Staples, looking for a 2008 calander, and saw that they had Franklin Planners, and bought one! I desparately need to organize my life and make better use of my time. I think this is really going to help me. I just have to use it. I have a way of writing things into my calander and then not looking at my calander!
to my planner again. I ordered daily pages for it this year instead of the weekly ones I had before, and it makes a HUGE difference to me. I guess it feels more active now than just something I glance at for dates. Space to take notes, time slots, and New Yorker cartoons. Excellent.
I have a woman that comes into my office all done up, toting her precious Covey (it has handles!) and she is one of the most disorganized people I’ve seen… phone numbers all over the cover page, receipts and papers jumping out every time she opens it, and this air of “oh, I forgot our appointment again.” The irony is palpable whenever I see her, but it has been an excellent motivator to USE my planner, and not just keep it for storage.
I’ve been writing my top 25 Things on the bookmark tracker thingy; then every day I do something related to one of my Things I write the name down under that day. It helps me see what things I’m progressing on, and which ones could get more attention. Kinda neat.
on Friday, and now waiting patiently for them to ship. Silly xmas rush!

I converted to a PDA. But, I am using my PDA for scheduling, contacts, and all of the things that I “wanted” to use my planner for, but kept putting off. I still have my red leather-bound planner, and may return to it . . . some day . . .

I’ve used a Franklin-Covey planner for years, but haven’t been extremely effective in using it properly (as can be seen by my previous entries on this subject/goal). I started using a PDA about 6-7 weeks ago and find that I am using it daily, and keeping up with things more easily than with the binder version.
I guess it is just finding what works for me, huh?
I’ve completely cleared and archived each Quest week for the last three weeks while doing a Getting Things Done weekly review. Only appointments, ‘must be done on the day or skipped’, and events of the day go into the quest. Everything else lives in a combination of Hipster PDA and a Tickler File (aka 43 Folders).
