I’m getting better at it… But i’m not quite there yet. I still often get stressed easily. It takes practice.

I’m going to forget that I am 35. I remember how happy I was when I was in elementary and junior high. I walked home every day humming my favorite theme song from Astro Boy and melodies from violin lessons. I am going to do same now just like some 25 years ago.

What it took for me was having a near break down from stress and discontentment. In the pain, staying in the present was what got me through and focusing on small things, keeping everything smaller. I’m feeling better now, but have learned to better stay in the present and it is very peaceful, and a place where you have more time to be inspired, feel creative, and just appreciate what is around you.

I’m constantly stressed out over the smallest things. And I constantly sit and think about the past or the future. Never the here and now. And that’s really something I’d like to learn how to do.

I spent some time last week with a very inspiring person who was very full of life and energy. From our conversation, I was noticing how much he seemed to get into each moment, be in the moment in whatever different things he may do throughout a day or week. It is key to focus in on what is in front of you, so that there is nothing else but what are you are doing, right now.

The past tells us who we are, and what humanity is. But we cannot change it (unless you have a time machine). The future you can influence only by concentrating on what you need to do today. So relax, do what you need to do, and don’t worry about it.
