Oh I am so sorry I missed this on it’s actual day, as you are without question one of my all time favorite 43ers and an integral part of my experience here. Soulful, wise, intelligent, funny, interesting, deep, multifaceted are you…..a treasure. I hope your day was stellar my dear. I send you armloads of good wishes there in my favorite city of Edinburgh. Don’t know if you’re a huggin’ kinda guy as such but consider yourself hugged! :~) May the coming year be extraordinary. With great and abiding fondness, Bee.

I think when I first encountered Gary he was going as Jock McTavish. I didn’t realize until he’d switched to Sehnsucht that he was changing his name and avatar regularly. Most recently I recall he was Manny Bianco before Ilya. It always takes me a few moments to realize who he is when he first makes the change. I think I’ve found some new cool 43er, and then I realize “oh it’s Gary”. I’m impressed how he keeps reinventing himself. I wish I could be as creative. Here are my wishes for him for the coming year:

May every day present him with opportunities to learn something new and to teach someone something they did not already know. May he make the time to fold more origami cranes, and find peace while doing so. And may he recognize the joy of taking pictures for pictures sake.

I think that the robots (I hate calling them that—it’s a convenient shorthand however) should be proud of what they have helped create. (Oh I’m temporarily out of cheers at the moment but as soon as I get some I’ll cheer you if I haven’t already done so.)
