Third try's the charm

I got pit tickets today. May 25th at the Journal Pavillion. Nice. The last two times they were coming to Albuquerque they cancelled, so I do hope the third time’s the charm.

Best Middle Act Ever

The second concert I ever went to, way back in 1982, was Axe, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest.
Axe had a hit at the time with “Rock n’ Roll Party in the Streets”, but other than that I don’t remember anything they ever did. (Apologies to all you Axe fans.)
Maiden was touring for “The Number of the Beast”, their first with Bruce Dickinson. My buddies and I spent untold hours that year listening to (and playing air guitar to) that album, as well as “Killers”.
Priest had just released “Screaming for Vengeance”, which we always thought would have made an outstanding soundtrack for The Road Warrior (which we saw at about the same time).
I saw Iron Maiden at least two times after that, once at an outdoor concert as the headliner of a 5-band show and once from the front row after deciding on the spur of the moment to go to the show. (Must have been some promo tickets that didn’t get picked up or something . . . I bought them at the box office while the opening act was playing.) My date at the time must have thought I had some amazing “pull”.
