finalists were announced and I wasn’t among them. Same story as last time, I take decent pictures for an amateur, but cannot compete with the talent thats out there. EIther need to step it up or give up. Will put this decision on hold til after Christmas, but then have to figure it out. 5 months ago

How I did it: I joined a photo site called Pixoto which is an online photo contest site that has a new competition each week with daily, weekly, and monthly awards. Not to sound like I'm pitching the site or anything, but it's easy to join and pushes you to be creative. You also get to see other (both professional and amateur) people's pics (not to mention compete against them) which can inspire you to try things you hadn't thought of. I also entered this one….of my son during maple syrup season. I can submit up to five, so I need to give it some more thought and come up with three more before Sept 30th which is the deadline. 8 months ago

I entered this photo in a contest held by the people I took a manual photography class from a few months ago. I didn’t win, but I did enter. 11 months ago

I’m not sure where to start with this goal.
Let me know if you know of anywhere I can submit my photos!
It’d be helpful if the contest had some sort of theme because I have a LOT of pictures, and I’d have no idea which photos to even consider submitting.
But any contest at all will work! 13 months ago

and I wasn’t one of them. Over 200 photos were submitted and some were really extraordinary.
I realize that my photos are good, but not compared to some folks with different camera setups or more shooting skills or photoshop experience. I’ve taken a couple of classes but still have a lot to learn so I can take my photos to the next level. If I truly want to be a better photographer I need to make more of a commitment than I have. I need to breakdown and buy photoshop. And spend the time to learn it. I need to know what settings are going to work in certain situations (or at least be closer right off the bat so I can quickly fine tune to get the shots I want).
So I’m keeping this goal on my list, because I would like to enter more contests. THat will help push me to improve. 14 months ago

I did it! I entered! We’ve had such a mild winter, I didn’t really have ANY photos from this year that really say winter in New England. But I SO wanted to enter a shot!! So I went with this shot of a wayward golden maple leaf that the wind blew out onto the snow covered ice of Lake Chauncy in Massachusetts. 15 months ago
