Melissa Maples has hit the ground running.
This seems like a logical next step for me… I’ll probably end up entering several contests before the year is out.
How I did it: I told a few people that I was going to enter the State Fair photography contest. Once I did that, there was no going back. Until you say it out loud to someone who can pick on you about it, it's easy to put it off until the deadline is gone. I got in just under the wire!
Lessons & tips: Tell someone about your goal. Preferably someone who you see often and will hold you accountable, or just bug you until you do it.
Resources: I went out every day after work and on the weekends and shot pictures all around the park and in my back yard.

There’s one that I really want to enter that ends in about 2 weeks. Step 1 would be what? Finding something to enter. Yeah, that’s something to work on this week.
But I have entered a few contests. No worries, just need to find the right one! And it is really about enjoying photography, which I do! So, I will say this is finished, but will enter more in the future.

I’m restructuring my list so it’s filled with things I want to actually make immediate plans to do. I’ll re-add this when I’m serious about it.
The National Cherry Blossom Photo Contest. Now just waiting. And still looking for others to enter!
I enjoy and feel I am a good photographer. I want to enter some photo contests not just for the money but so others can enjoy my photos as well.
I love taking pictures and it’s gratifying when I shoot one that has ‘the look’ I’m after…people places things..its doesn’t matter
Two weeks on and one of my photos (see above) is listed as one of 18 on my local newspaper’s website! I’m very excited about it and wonder if it will be included in next week’s edition? I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out! :D
Well, I finally entered a contest in the local newspaper, a sort of “Day in the Life” that our community was running. I entered four pictures, one is shown above. It waits to be seen whether I actually did any good, but I’m happy for the experience… and pleased to be able to cross something off my List :)
Yesterday I saw an ad in the local newspaper about a “Day In The Life” (DITL) competition in photographs for Thursday, September 8th.
Since I regularly (okay… 3-4 times per year) participate in DITL groups in a journalling community, why not try and come up with something suitable for entering into this competition?
I have to find out more of the specifics, but this sounds right up my alley. The winners get their pictures on the front page of the newspaper.
